Unknown Mortal Orchestrasideshows
Thu 15th Sep, 2011 in Local News
Undoubtedly the hype band of 2011 Unknown Mortal Orchestra have just announced four sideshows for their debut trip down under this December.
Already confirmed to play Homebake and Meredith UMO, who featured on FL’s May Playlist, have been making heads (and ears) turn since anonymously dropping the tune Ffunny Ffrends on bandcamp late last year. Since then the band has, of course, revealed themselves to be the new project of ex-Mint Chick Ruban Nielson and released their stunning, self-titled debut record.
One of this year’s most enjoyable records, UMO’s debut is “ A collection of hazy lo-fi pop gems, twisted hooks and a healthy dose of phased and flanged guitars. Combining fuzzy indie guitar hooks with hip-hop breaks, the record at times sounds like the result of a collaboration between Hendrix and RZA and always sounds fresh, effortless and catchy.”
You can catch Unknown Mortal Orchestra supported by DZ Deathrays this December:
Sunday 4th December – The Alhambra Lounge, Brisbane
Wednesday 7th December – Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
Thursday 8th December – The Toff In Town, Melbourne
Saturday 10th December – The Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Tickets on sale Thursday 15th September.
