Incubus announce Australiantour

Update:
A second Melbourne show and a Canberra gig have been added.

Four years ago Incubus went on hiatus because, in the words of singer Brandon Boyd, “I think that we, collectively, were feeling like if we didn’t step away from this monster that we created then it would begin to consume us.” After a long break, a few solo records and even a ‘Greatest Hits’ Incubus are back and they are coming to Australia next February.

The visit will be the frst time the band has been on our shores since Soundwave in 2008 and marks the release of their new LP If Not Now, When?. The seventh studio album for the band guitarist Mike Einziger has said of If Not Now, When?, “This album is based on, some very, very simple ideas…I think the sounds that a lot of people come to expect from us are based on the idea of large walls of very thick guitars. That’s kind of a trademark for a lot of loud, aggressive rock music, but it can also be a crutch, or a wall that you can hide behind. But we didn’t rely on that for this album, it actually doesn’t have any of that.”

Incubus tour dates:
Friday 3rd February – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Saturday 4th February – Canberra, Royal Theatre new date
Monday 6th February – AEC Theatre, Adelaide
Tuesday 7th February – Festival Hall, Melbourne new date
Wednesday 8th February – Festival Hall, Melbourne
Friday 10th February – Convention Centre, Brisbane

Tickets On Sale 9am Wednesday 28th September. Pre-Sale Runs 2pm Monday 26th to 5pm Tuesday 27th.

to the haters speaking ill of 'bus, your absurd comments make me vexed! i've listened to them since i was 12 and whether they're going hard out or mellow... they are still one of the finest rock bands (15 years on) and still around making intelligent, melodic music. they're definitely no gaga or ke$ha! brandon boyd's 4 octave range is the best since freddie mercury! i'm so pleased they're coming back to aus as i miss them by a week when i'm in vegas and cali next month!

dinki - they played mostly singles at soundwave... stellar, ktsuo, just a phase, drive, wywh, all the mainstream songs typical fans would know. i was really hoping they'd play punch drunk or have you ever... or my fave clean! fingers crossed this year x.

But seriously I saw Stinkubus in 2002 at the Hordern. I was a fanboy back then but they were still bland. Then a few months later I saw System of a Clown at the same venue with my studded leather wristbands and had a good ol' mosh. So much in fact that I got a rash under my armpits.

And then I grew up to hate everything.

That was in the magical days of dial-up internet so I had to get my pr0n from the local pr0natorium so I visited Club X on Pitt Street after the gig with raw armpits. It is referring to someone whose love of a band clouds their judgement to the extent that they can't rationally critique the music for what it is.
