Incubus announce Australiantour
Thu 15th Sep, 2011 in Local News
Update:
A second Melbourne show and a Canberra gig have been added.
Four years ago Incubus went on hiatus because, in the words of singer Brandon Boyd, “I think that we, collectively, were feeling like if we didn’t step away from this monster that we created then it would begin to consume us.” After a long break, a few solo records and even a ‘Greatest Hits’ Incubus are back and they are coming to Australia next February.
The visit will be the frst time the band has been on our shores since Soundwave in 2008 and marks the release of their new LP If Not Now, When?. The seventh studio album for the band guitarist Mike Einziger has said of If Not Now, When?, “This album is based on, some very, very simple ideas…I think the sounds that a lot of people come to expect from us are based on the idea of large walls of very thick guitars. That’s kind of a trademark for a lot of loud, aggressive rock music, but it can also be a crutch, or a wall that you can hide behind. But we didn’t rely on that for this album, it actually doesn’t have any of that.”
