Raggamuffin Festival on hiatus

Just weeks after announcing the lineup for the festival, Raggamuffin has now decided to take a break next year.

Although the festival has been cancelled for 2012, and moved to smaller venues with 2-4-1 ticket deals earlier this year, the promoters promise that the event will return “bigger and better than ever in 2013 with an exciting line-up”.

Promoter Andrew McManus has issued a statement to explain that “We are concentrating on building the New Zealand leg of Raggamuffin into a massive two day festival. With 30,000 people attending the New Zealand shows in previous years, we are looking to double this in coming years. This growth will enable us to return to Australia in 2013 bigger and better than ever””.

The festival in Rotorua, New Zealand on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th January will feature sets from Ali Campbell’s UB40, Billy Ocean, Marvin Priest, Big Mountain, Junior Marvin, Nkulee Dube and others and the promoters promise that “several” of the acts will visit Australia for “a theatre tour” which will be announced in the coming weeks.
