Explosions In The Sky Meredithsideshows

Experimental Texan four-piece Explosions In The Sky were last on our shores for their first ever Australian visit in 2008. They blew fans away with their visceral live performances, and as one FL reviewer summed it up “[an] Explosions show is truly a breathtaking and all encompassing experience.”

They will return this December to play the Meredith Music Festival and a handful of sideshows, armed with their stunning sixth album Take Care, Take Care, Take Care.

ebay has plenty for the sydney show however, going to brisbane. Hopefully it doesn't sell out by the time i get paid next friday and i concur with solo it's like broken social scene, many said they'd come back and now look they appear to have finally broken up

brisbane looks like the date that won't sell out, that's for having it on a week day and well brisbane aren't as 'snappy' with ticket sales as melbourne/sydney. wish they'd include welcome ghosts and so long lomesome but i should have gone last tour if i wanted to hear them.

I was at the metro, and the mitigating circumstances are that I was out until 530 am on Friday night and 330 am on Saturday night so I wasn't in the ideal frame of mind for a concert.

I can't fault the lads for effort but the bass was way too loud in the mix.

Awesome set, they keep bettering themselves every time I see them. The new material really slayed. Last Known Surroundings was huge but Postcard from 1962 really made the night for me, it was glorious...

Almost every single concert I go to people cheer at the quiet bits in songs and make whooping noises, not just this one. I don't expect the band mind.

The whole gig was a wall of sound with almost no complete lull or silence. So I don't think there was ever a right/wrong time to applaud if it was genuine.

The woo-ers on the other hand can diaf.

Even if I love a band these days, I'm often at a point where I don't want it to get too dragged out. As far as I'm concerned, they could have played all night.

I respect your opinion to disagree but are you kidding me? The intricacies of The Only Moment... deserve to be heard, I personally would rather hear it than yew yew and applause. Also I wouldn't compare a regular gig to an EITS gig but that's just me.
I have spoken to Mike from EITS about this subject a few years ago and he says it is distracting but he deals with it.

Did they play 'Your Hand in Mine'? Because originally the Melbourne setlist I saw didn't have it on it, but now setlist.fm is listing it as being played (and the Sydney setlist hasn't been uploaded).

Melbourne setlist is pretty good except it should have Six Days At The Bottom Of The Ocean. Best song besides The Only Moment We Were Alone on the album.

I don't think they tend to play very long shows. I saw them here in Austin in June (below), and even for a hometown show they only played for a bit over an hour. Pretty much the same setlist as well. Saw them open for Arcade Fire in May as well, that was a grand evening.
