And another festival cancelled
Wed 24th Aug, 2011 in Local News
With lineup featuring John Butler Trio, Pete Murray, Kasey Chambers, the legendary Booker T. Jones and more the Great Southern Blues Festival looked like a fine way to spend the Labour Day Long Weekend.
But sadly the organisers of the annual festival have announced “with great disappointment” that the annual festival, which moved from Narooma to Batemans Bay last year has now been cancelled. The official statement from the festival blames “this current economic climate [and] unsatisfactory ticket sales” for the cancellation.
This is the third festival to be shut down by poor ticket sales in 2011 following the cancellation of the Soundwave Revolution and Funk n Grooves festivals.
The Great Southern Blues Festival promoters promise that the festival will return in 2012 and say that all tickets will be fully refunded directly to the credit card with which they were purchased by Friday 2nd September. Any queries about to ticket refunds should be directed to info@bluesfestival.tv
