Soundwave Counter-Revolutionmini-festival lineups

The Soundwave Revolution has been overthrown, but the Counter-Revolution mini-festivals have risen to take its place and festival promoter AJ Maddah has even promised that there’ll be no band clashes at the mini-festivals. Viva la Revolution!

Counter-Revolution dates:
Saturday 24th September – The Riverstage, Brisbane
Sunday 25th September – Luna Park, Sydney
Friday 30th September – Festival Hall and surrounds, Melbourne
Sunday 2nd October – Fowlers Live, Adelaide
Monday 3rd October – Amplifier and Capitol, Perth

Tickets are $103.05; Perth tickets on sale Tuesday 30th August all other shows on sale now

A Tribute to Soundwave Revolution

There are also Counter-Revolutions shows for Every Time I Die, The Acacia Strain and The Word Alive Hollywood Undead and Skindred.

Many of the remaining Soundwave Revolution acts have moved to the Soundwave 2012 lineup. According to Maddah roughly 15 to 20 out of the 60 bands on Soundwave 2012 tour will be acts originally booked for the Revolution. Bands that have moved their tours to the festival next year include Hole, Sisters of Mercy, The Used, Hellyeah, Black Veil Brides and Devin Townsend.

AJ already said that the mini-fests would be the punk/harcore/scene bands, the metal acts would get club shows throughout the week

Word is we're looking at Watain/Whitechapel; Every Time I Die/Acacia Strain/Word Alive; and Skindred/Hollywood Undead gigs. Possibly Alter Bridge shows as well.

Wow, I'm not exactly a fan, but chances are that somebody that likes Whitechapel probably likes Acacia Strain (and vice versa), and not putting them on the same bill is a nice way to rip off the kids...

Yeah, Acacia Strain are really heavy from what I remember, whereas ETID are kind of more on the hardcore side of things. Not a random match, but there could have been better

so... he removes 3/4's of the bands (including his biggest expense, vh), slashes oberhead by using smaller venues, yet is still charging 2/3's of the price?

They said the lineup would be punk based and probably not have any metal acts.
But Spiral has hoit the nail on the head... proves it was a profit exercise and that with SWR he wasn't going to make enough $$$ so he canned it.

Looks like they sorted that all out fairly quickly - their last two updates are about their Australian tour including the comment "Australia, times change, people change, plans change! We're coming for you with ETID and Acacia Strain!"

Melbourne venue now listed as TBA.

According to AJ "We're having a dispute. Will hopefully be resolved amicably. Otherwise we're off to a back up venue in the city."

Or maybe it's a secret announcement.

Counter-revolution could have to do with a clock hand spinning anti-clockwise, symbolising AJ wanting to turn back time.
Turn back time to do what? To fix the mistake he had made and have that second headliner not cancel.

Thus he announces that the mysterious second headliner, AQUA, will be coming to soundwave 2012 to be second headliner.

Not sure if anyones seen the official poster, but the top of the jukebox motif they use as the design looks remarkably like U2's claw stage.

Also traditional jukeboxes play records and records are played anti-clockwise, or counter-revolution

EDIT: This post seems pointless, so I'm going to say these are all clues for future Soundwave bands.

all under agers who's parents paid by credit card can do a charge back on the card. if everybody does this then 70% of the sales will fall over and yet another soundwave gig will bite the dust. this promoter is over!
