Portishead Harvest sideshowswith Mercury Rev

Perth and Adelaide may not be getting the full Harvest Festival extravaganza come November, but they needn’t despair. In two months time Australia’s oft overlooked capital cities will get the chance to see Portsihead and Mercury Rev back-to-back at some very special sideshows.

Playing at the beautiful Belvoir Theatre in Perth and Adelaide’s well loved Thebarton , Portishead will lead a night of music that, quite frankly, can not be missed. It has been over 13 years since the trip-hop pioneers were on our shores, and they will bring with them their extensive back-catalogue, including tunes from 2008’s haunting LP Third.

Portishead and Mercury Rev Harvest sideshows:

Thursday 10th November – Vector Arena, Auckland
Tuesday 15th November – Belvoir Theatre, Perth
Thursday 17th November – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide

Tickets go on sale: Friday 26th August at 9:00am.

I have tickets to Harvest in Brisbane already but not sure how I feel about this...

These shows will obviously be longer sets than the festival but do I want to travel all the way to Adelaide, hmm?

Would this be a good time to mention that I've never heard a single Portishead song?

As much as Perth is generally shit at everything anything at Belvoir is always incredible.
Will be worth the extra travel over Adelaide

To be honest I'll buy a ticket to this anyway.
I'd hate it if I became a Portishead fan after they toured.

I mean Burswood Dome is pretty shit, but I think our venues are a lot better than many others I've been too around the world... just look at Festival Hall *vomit*

On topic, so awesome it is at Belvoir! I wish Holy Fuck were supporting though, there is something about a Portishead/Holy Fuck double that makes me weak at the knees.

Maybe cozza is counting the clubs and bars around Northbridge?

MilkySheep

MilkySheep said on the 19th Aug, 2011

Probably, but you don't get many gigs in Northbridge apart from the occasional rapper and random cover bands.

cozza147

Burswood dome has the worst acoustics. So does challenge stadium.
Metro city and Belvoir are realy the only two large concert venues that i appreciate in Perth.

I wonder how well Harvest is selling?
Because I keep getting ALOT of posts from them on facebook, seriously pushing ticket sales and asking to spread the word ect...
If Harvest ends up like SWR I will be pissed, Portishead better at least do East Coast shows if this happens!

Stefan Beck

That's just the way they run their social media - they get an amazing 'community' response for the SW tours so they seem to be trying the same thing for Harvest, without realising that it's a totally different audience.

OK, that sounds fine as long as the festival goes ahead.
If they want to sell more tickets maybe they should hurry up with the 2nd announcement ;)

It seems like every second post they do leads to an argument with a hipster about posting too much in their comments.

NB: I have yet to be involved in any of these arguments
