The 21st Meredith MusicFestival line-up

“It was a party and the three guys who organised it called it the Meredith Music Festival as a cheeky joke.” – Aunty Meredith, 2011.

Over two decades since a couple of mates held a party for two hundred friends in a paddock, Meredith Music Festival is coming of age. On its 21st Birthday Melbourne’s Musical Mecca remains fiercely BYO, continues to shun commercial sponsorship and (save the occasional late night reveler) is still distinctly free of dickheads.

To celebrate twenty-one years of myth-making, Aunty Meredith has tipped her hat to the cosmic powers that be and arranged for St Nick to lead his Grinderman into battle under a Lunar Eclipse, Icehouse to let their flowers bloom as the sun sets on Saturday, Mudhoney to unleash their Supernaturalfuzz, Explosions In The Sky to create explosions in our mind and Denis Commetti to make sure everything is just ‘Centimetre Perfect’ come Sunday. This is going to be one hell of a party.

If anyone deserves the last word here, it is Mr Dennis Commetti, who knows a good thing when he’s on to it.
