Kasabian 'confirmed' for BigDay Out

Big Day Out gossip has been running thick and fast this month, and now Triple M’s music reporter and rumour monger extraordinaire Nui Te Koha has knocked it up a notch, claiming that Kasabian have been confirmed to play the festival in 2012.

While no source was given for the confirmation Koha assured the station’s’ Hot Breakfast’ show that the British rockers would be Down Under come January. The band last played the festival in 2010 following the release of their album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

The ‘confirmation’ follows last week’s barrage of rumours from the notorious Miss Info, who claims that “ Blink 182 & Prince have been snared to headline” the Big Day Out, a tid-bit which was supported by Koha who also reported Queens Of The Stone Age as a likely addition.

To be honest I wouldn't blame anyone for leaving. They were pretty average. Their sideshow at the Enmore was killer though.

Some of that stuff on Kasabian's first album is brilliant too.

Sounding more promising than Prince.

QOTSA is more my cup of tea though, esp if they were to headline the smaller stage (i wouldn't fancy being prince and going on after them)

If they play, there is no way on god's green earth they'll play anything but the main stage, one of the last 3 slots, depending on who else they get.

not sure i'd be that keen on qotsa at big day out. their palace sideshow this year killed their soundwave show. i left after 15 mintes to hit up the merch and see what all the fuss about rob zombie is. still don't get it.

Rookie Mistake. I saw a bit of Tame Impala and thought they were shit, was never missing a minute of Mastodon. They were amazing. I'd like to see them play more than just Crack The Skye in full though.

not that much of a mistake, i'd never really listened to mastodon before the day; whereas i got tame impala's ep the month it came out (one of the few benefits of having lived in perth). was glad to see them play their ep stuff, which they don't seem to be doing any more

Ahk... Tame Impala was it? So it went Kasabian into Mastodon on the main stages with Tame Impala wedged in the middle of those two time slots on the green. Pretty sure Karnivool were on just before too. Good times.

I got in just as Sugar Army finished and stayed until Mastodon finished. Legged it as soon as Kasabian hit the stage and went to Temper Trap. Muuuuch better.

Some of my friends ditched me at the 2010BDO to see Kasabian as I saw either Magic Dirt or The Temper Trap.
It's fair to say I crossed them off my christmas card list that year, and it was only fucking January...

i'm not saying you gotta love em or get right into em (i havent gone that far) cos they do seem to generate quite a bit of hate (i guess cos they're up themselves basically), but try "shoot the runner" if you're a youtuber, much better song.

I find it hard to "give bands a go" nowdays. Since i've been on here I have checked out bands I previously wouldn't have. I need to get some friends who love music like I did back in the olden days.

I've been hooked on Fucked Up's newie for the last week but I would still watch Mudhoney over them. Fucked Up will be back before Mudhoney will.

trust me, i hear you, it certainly doesn't get any easier to expand your tastes and keep up with all the gigs as the years go by and your friends get married, have kids and/or basically go soft once over about 32... i've never had that many friends into going to gigs as it is but now i can count them on 2-3 fingers..

like you i guess, i youtube or download some stuff on here from what i infer from my reading. Fucked up's been the best after MAB told me to check em out at Soundwave. i dig David Comes to Life and also have got into "the Chemistry of Common Life" before it. I've got into Mastodon a bit from here too

i'm keen to see them do a proper gig cos they're fresh for me

but i LOVE mudhoney and HAVE TO GO!

one advantage of going to mudhoney is that a lot of the crowd will be largely roughly my age, not that that's necessarily a good thing!! :-/
