Remember the old saying ‘two heads are better than one’? Well that also applies to festivals. And that’s essentially what you’re getting with local promoters Future Entertainment and Fuzzy melding their Summadayze and Field Day festivals into one absolute monster of a day out.

Such pulling power always brings together a particularly bananas lineup and the 2012 instalment is no exception with superstars from all across the dance spectrum coming together for some festival fun.

In charge of the action this year are a cast of festival-favourite-faces including Pendulum, Snoop Dogg, Metronomy, Spank Rock, Scissor Sisters, Calvin Harris, Busy P, Grandmaster Flash, Flying Lotus and even Moby in rare DJ-mode.

Holy shit. Again, summadayze's lineup amazes me. I can almost guarantee you though that Moby and Snoop will be on at the same time, just as Van Buuren clashed with NERD and David Guetta clashed with Justice this year. I'm so sick of seeing Pendulum on lineups too

the goldcoast show was also by far the worst planned festival i'd been to. they only had one food section that was extremely small, so by 8pm some places had already sold out, making even more people queuing up for less shops. i waited over an hour for a burger, everyone was in terrible spirits and just put a huge dampener on the whole day. unless that shit is fixed i would never even consider going back

2 in Melbourne and 2 in Perth

I have no problems with Snoop. He is a great performer and Yes I have seen him at Good Vibrations 07 and the crowd was brilliant (Because it was sold out before he was announced on the bill.) I'm not a huge fan and hence bailed him to see Soulwax but I respect what he does. I much preferred his remixed stuff by Funkstroung but that's just personal preference.

But Grand Master Flash is the best hip hop artist ever. With Public enemy being a close second and Blackalicious third. and Yes I have seen them all.

And Melle Mel and Scorpio doing this is just huge amounts of insane fun, This makes me laugh.

The Message is brilliant and I have seen GMF twice. Both headliners (Snoop and GMF) are brilliant and suitable mid to high level headliners in my book for a dance and hip hop focused event.

Congrats on signing those names Summadayze

I hop this festival does well and gets well patronised. I would def see Moby over snoop but if GMF and Moby were clashing it would create a dilema.

I've managed to miss Snoop twice now and I just can't bring myself to do it a third time, so I'll have to go, and with Grandmaster, Pendulum, Calvin Harris, Metronomy, Scissor Sisters and Flying Lotus it'll be a good time.

Look out for me, I'll wear fluro, get bad tribal tattoos, and take shitty drugs so I should be pretty easy to spot...

I've done it and it is painful. If you are up at 7am and have left the site by 8am, and live within 20 minutes of SMMB you can get there for 2pm pretty easily. But it is a big event to follow up after 3 days of festivals going into the fourth that is 150 - 200km's away.

If you leave after 8am be prepared for hours of waiting to get out of the festival.

I had serious motivation issues backing up Sensation and Summerdayze in 08/09 and I was staying within 1 km of each venue in South Melbourne.

On a related note, I still love a news report from a couple of years back that went "Police are looking for any information in regards to an assualt outside of the Sensation White party last night. The suspect behind the attack has been described as a causcasian male, dressed in white and intoxicated at the time."

But cash is why artists tour for appearance fees 2k or 2 million.

I Just Love the energy and fun in both the ad and the making of the ad. Even on good news week they were stoked to be over here. Easy fun cash. Great if you can get it.

But I'd like to see how much grand master pocketed for that and and melle and Scorpio did all of the leg work.

I see whats going on there - if the article is to be believed, those three acts will be playing Adelaide (pending) on the 31st, and then Shore Thing also on the 31st, and then Melbourne on the 1st.

Seems unlikely.

Pendulum is the only act listed to be playing both Adelaide and Sydney on the 31st.

Assuming the Adelaide event is a daytime thing, then they'd be able to get to Sydney for Shore Thing at night.

David Guetta last year at Future music was the most awful fucking hour and half of my life. I honestly should've sacrificed my spot for the Prodigy just so I didn't have to endure that. For those that didn't have the displeasure of seeing him, he remixed his own songs to the point where they sounded more awful then they already do, and not to mention the same beat underlying his whole sound for 90 minutes...

Haha, it was Brisbane indeed. Not to mention how the disgusting weather made every fault of that day seem 10,000 times worse.
That was actually the worst festival i've ever been to, easily. I spent 4 hours in the silent disco because it was the only place not affected by torrential downpour.

I had the opposite complaint for him at this years SFD. He would just press play on one of his songs, then when it ended he had a stupid fucking loop playing while he "mixed" the next track. Completely no talent on a live scale whatsoever, and he was somehow billed higher than van buuren?

I agree. His performance at SFD was woeful. His remixes were so shit. The best thing about David Guetta at SFD was the watching the guy who was off his chops going around and around on the chair swing rocking out and stripping. If it weren't for Guetta, I wouldn't have had that moment.

Yeah I should have just said that I was sick of seeing them at all. 3 times now and it's always the same show. Was the highlight of my day at bdo '09, their show at the tivoli was pretty cool, then again at future I was bored. People still cum buckets over seeing their name though.

The 15 minutes of Guetta at SFD was 100 times better than Guetta at Sydney FMF last year, and I thought he was pretty bad at SFD. The only DJ I've ever seen worse than Guetta is Martin Solveig. I'd like to see Guetta in Europe though, I think he plays to the crowd, I've heard he can be good when he wants to be.

Good organisation, free water everywhere, lots of toilets and food everywhere. This year it was at full capacity and it wasn't too crowded there was still enough space to move around freely. Most of the aggressive dickheads and bogans don't come because they spent all night passing out at Shore Thing, so the crowd is always good. Really chilled out relaxed vibe, probably because people are still tired, and there's a decent variety of music between the 3 stages. Whoever is on the main stage around 1-2pm is awesome as a general rule.

I've only seen the start and end of his set and Good Vibes. The start was alright but the end was incendiary. I tried doing the Parklife / Godskitchen double and was in bed by midnight lol, hopefully I'll have more energy/motivation for this. Might have to have a quiet NYE

I was really fucked up each time, but I've inferred that the positive vibe was existent in the external world as well.

Well i'm going with a friend so i'll have to talk to her about it to resolve those clashes. I know i'm probably alone on this but I do love Calvin Harris and he was awesome when I saw him in 2010 and i've only seen Pendulum the once and they were awesome too.

I think I'll probably end up seeing Calvin over Justice just because i'm not that into Justice at all, but yeah, don't really know about the Pendulum/Scissor Sisters clash...

I totally agree that the Scissor Sisters are great and I do enjoy them but I haven't seen Pendulum since BDO 2009 (which they were fantastic at) and their early work is great. Not exactly an easy decision from my point of view.

I was a fan of his albums, his newer stuff i could tolerate but now it's just grated on me to the point that I never want to hear it ever again. Except for Awooga. That song was always terrible.
