BIGSOUND full programannounced

BIGSOUND Music Summit and Showcase has released its full program featuring international heavyweights and local music industry speakers, and showcasing the best in contemporary music around Fortitude Valley from Wednesday 7th September to Friday 9th September.

BIGSOUND LIVE

Bigsound Live 2011 has added two more venues than last year’s event across the Fortitude Valley live music precinct to showcase 80 bands across eight venues on the evenings of Wednesday, 7th September and Thursday, 8th September.

Eighty acts from Australia, New Zealand and Canada will showcase at local live music institutions The Zoo and Ric’s, newcomers Woodland Bar, Black Bear Lodge (in the old The Troubadour space) and Tempo Hotel, Electric Playground, The Aviary (Birdie Num Nums) and a festival outdoor stage set up in Bakery Lane.

Tickets are available to punters for $55 for two nights, $33 for one night through OzTix

MUSIC SUMMIT

Celebrating its 10th year, BIGSOUND has announced an additional fifty-five speakers covering a range of topics including Festivale, where festival founders will discuss the art of putting on a great festival, the future of radio, and a case study of the greatest Australian albums of all time.

The conference takes place at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Art and opens with a keynote speech with Alan McGee, best known for co-forming and running the independent Creation Records label, having released Primal Scream, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and Teenage Fanclub and Oasis.

On Friday morning, Australia’s biggest industry heavyweight, Michael Chugg will be grilled by three of Australia’s most high profile music journalists, Kathy McCabe, Lars Brandle and Iain Shedden.

Closing the three day conference, which is one of the biggest gatherings of international industry ever in Australia, will be a keynote address by Pavement’s founding member, Spiral Stairs aka Scott Kannberg.

For the first time, Q Music have joined forces with Youth Music Industries to present a one day forum, Little BIGSOUND 2011, aimed at young people at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts on Saturday, 10th September.
