The Frontier Touring Company today announced what was the most talked about rumour doing the rounds in the underground punk scene the last few weeks, that being a tour from The Get Up Kids, who last visted our country as guests of Jebediah four years ago, now with brand new album Guilt Show (Vagrant/FMR) released today, they’ve decided to come back to promote it.
Billboard Magazine wrote of the Get Up Kids “this is the glorious sound of a band that’s still growing and successfully finding ways to experiment without losing its energy.”
With seven years experience behind them The Get Up Kids remains one of the underground punk’s most influential bands, one of the bands that have been heavily influenced by them is young upstarts Saves The Day, who are also on the Vagrant Records label that is home to the cream of the emo/rock/punk artists going around today.
Saves The Day’s live shows are something to see with PunxorDotCom declaring the performance “absolutely amazing…I have to say if it’s coming by your town, buy a goddamn ticket and go, it was truly one of the best shows I have ever attended.” Their current album In Reverie (through FMR) saw the band introduce a melodic pop indie element to their existing punk base.
With shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth fans across the country will be able to snap up tickets when they go on sale on Monday 29 March, they are not expected to last very long at all, so make a note if you plan to go along, these tickets will become hot property. All shows are for over 18’s only.
