Mogwai confirm Harvestappearance, almost
Wed 3rd Aug, 2011 in Local News
During their exclusive Australian set at Splendour, Mogwai dropped hints at Splendour that they would be back soon to play at the Harvest festival in November.
The comments back up the rumours offered by the notorious Miss Info which claim that the full Harvest lineup will include Mogwai, Aphex Twin and Janelle Monae in addition to the already announced acts. (Although since that rumour was floated Aphex Twin has announced a show in Manchester on the same date as the Brisbane Harvest show.)
The civilized Harvest festivals are a joint effort between the Soundwave promoters and Declan Forde, the artist booker with Ireland’s Electric Picnic festival. But when asked if Mogwai was on the Harvest festival bill by SPA on Monday Forde kept his cards close to his chest with the answer: “Watch this space… I wasn’t aware they’d said that. We’ll be announcing more acts in a couple of weeks.”
Forde also told SPA that the festival lineup will have a “focus on a few artists that haven’t been here recently” and that they hope to “surprise people with a strong arts presence.”
Assuming Mogwai are added to the bill, they’ll join The Walkmen, The Family Stone and Death in Vegas as acts playing at both Harvest and Electric Picnic.
The lineup for the three day Electric Picnic festival, which takes place in September, also includes sets from Arcade Fire, Pulp, Chemical Brothers, PJ Harvey, Beruit, Best Coast, Yuck, Public Enemy, The Rapture, DJ Shadow, Flying Lotus, Big Audio Dynamite and more.
