Due to the overwhelming demand of tickets for their Hordern Pavillion show, Sheffield four-piece Arctic Monkeys have announced a second show for Sydney fans, but at the slightly more intimate Enmore Theatre.
Update: (15/11/11)
A second Melbourne show has been added on Monday 2nd January. Tickets on sale Monday 21th November.

While in the country for the Falls and Southbound Festivals, the Arctic Monkeys will play headline shows in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.

This will be the band’s third Australian tour, but their first since the release of their two most recent records – 2009’s Humbug and this year’s Suck It And See.

Monday 2nd January – Palace Theatre, Melbourne (18+) New show
Tuesday 3rd January – Festival Hall, Melbourne (All Ages)
Friday 6th January – Belvoir Amphitheatre, Perth (18+)
Tuesday 10th January – Entertainment Centre, Adelaide (All Ages)
Thursday 12th January – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney (All Ages)
Friday 13th January – Enmore Theatre, Sydney New show

I'm tempted. Last time I saw Arctic Monkeys, they were booked at the Enmore and it was moved to the Hordern when it sold out quickly. They were then hopeless at the Hordern.

It's a Friday night and the day before my birthday so I'm thinking I might give them another shot. I guess I need to decide by Wednesday.

Well they really have only released the one album seeing their one last year was pretty much a remix and extension of their debut. I have seen them play longer than 20 mins though.

Oh well their songs are short. Still should get maybe 6.

To be honest I always thought Violent Soho were way better with shorter sets.

They are also a lot better live than they are on record.

setlists were pretty great, i mean i was disappointed by no cornerstone and mardy bum, but they have to leave some songs out i suppose.
they have about 4 from whatever people say...
a shitload from FWN,
2/3 from humbug
a b-side,
a newbie.
and quite a few from suck it and see.

overall a very good setlist. evil twin, crying lightning and still take you home were my highlights.

matt helders is an absolute beast too, don't think i've physically seen a better drummer than him, he is just ridiculous.

I couldn't believe this was the same band I saw at the Palais on their BDO/pre-Humbug tour. They need to play Festival Hall everytime they're in Melb (their FWN show there was great too). Last week was magic, so much more personable than previously, a crowd that just popped all night and sang along with most everything, a great spread of songs but some more Humbug would've been nice IMO.

Looking up the setlists, they play pretty much the same set every night, but if you're only seeing them the once that shouldn't be an issue.

Why don't they play mardy bum? it's such a crowd favourite. I still take you home is the best.

After having an AM binge today I'm pretty keen for their show Saturday night. I sussed their setlists and they look pretty sweet, was hoping to hear My Propeller and FTOSF but other than that it's a decent set.

I'm just happy to see that people are raving about how much better they are than BDO'09. Did not enjoy their performance there in the slightest - exceedingly average at best.

Yeah as I said on the previous page I literally only bought a ticket a few days ago and purely because my gf's friend couldn't go with her anymore, and alot of that had to do with how much I didn't enjoy them at BDO 2009. But i'm really glad I did now after reading so many positive comments about their current shows. I love their first two albums (despite how long them/the band took to grow on me) so yeah, mad keen now!

just got back from the hordern. in dot point form cos im too tired to do anything else

- the sound was the usual hordern standard. alex was lost in the mix a few times. i love AMs basslines so i was glad with where it sat in the mix throughout the night

waited 6 years to see them. pretty damn satisfied with tonight :)

I like their setlist - a good combination of all their old and new stuff. Bit too much of FWN for my liking, I think they should drop This is a Circus for Mardy Bum or Fake Tales. Their sets just go so fast - need something to like that to slow down the pace a bit imo. Other than that, they were amazing at the Palace in Melbourne.

I really enjoyed last night.

I was really happy with the set list, although I heard a fair few older songs last time I saw them so maybe that's why I didn't give a shit that they weren't played now.

They were naturally going to play a lot of SIAS but 6 songs is hardly too much. They played a huge chunk of "classics" for the casual fans and two b-sides for the tragics. I was in heaven. I would have loved to have heard If You Were There, Beware but again I'd heard it before.

Miles Kane made two guest appearances which was expected but still exciting.

I was in the seats and the sound was really clear for me, the crowd looked mental, especially in Still Take You Home.

Can't wait for tonight.

i got to the venue pretty late last night. missed miles kane and by the start of AMs set i was halfway back but after some strategic shifting i was near the front by Brianstorm. from my perspective Dancefloor and When the Sun Goes Down got the crowd going the best. in hindsight i quite liked last nights crowd, something i rarely say about all age shows.

My only beef with the set was Suck It and See to start the encore. Didn't really fit the moment. Besides that I had a blast and yeah I agree the crowd was quite good throughout.

I love Suck It and See, probably one of my favourites from the new album but yeah I don't think it should open the encore. I think it would've worked better if it were put near Pretty Visitors or somewhere in that time during the main set. Still really enjoyed it though.

Yeah this was a bit annoying. I was up the front/middle and they kept doing it during the first 5-6 songs but after that everyone seemed to chill out a bit cause they were a bit exhausted since pretty much all of those songs transitioned into each other and were the faster songs.

Loved the set, would've like to see Cornerstone or Dance Little Liar though. Really happy to get Pretty Visitors, nice to see 2 bsides played and the crowd settled down a bit then since they didn't really know the songs so I could really take them in.

Also I was surprised how much I enjoyed Don't Sit Down and Brick By Brick since they were my least favourites from SIAS. They really come to life live.

It was my first Monkeys show but I agree about Alex seeming like more of a frontman now, based on videos I've seen from previous tours. He was really into it. Great gig.

why are we still discussing the validity of encores? these days encore is just another word for second set or set 2. so just like you would want a band to start their first set with something upbeat and crowd pleasing you would want something with a similar effect to start the second set. Suck It and See just doesn't do that.

Good show last night. I really loved Miles Kane's support set, I only knew a couple of his songs but I still enjoyed it thoroughly,

Same setlist as the rest of the tour for the Monkeys. I thought it was a pretty great performance, Alex Turner is a much improved frontman and Matt Helders' drumming was some of the best I've seen. Highlights were probably Brianstorm, Crying Lightning, She's Thunderstorms and 505.
The only issue I had was them playing almost all the hits in the first 40 minutes or so and the crowd becoming bored with the more subdued mid-set songs.
