Trivium for Soundwave 2012?

Trivium were only last on Australian shores in April as part of the brutal triple-headline tour with Disturbed and As I Lay Dying, and according to bassist Paolo Gregoletto we should expect the band’s return in early 2012, just in time for Soundwave

Speaking with FasterLouder about Trivium’s latest album In Waves Gregoletto let slip that the Florida based four-piece planned to be back Down Under “as soon as possible.” Getting the Soundwave rumour mill spinning nice and early he elaborated “…the album’s out in August so I’d say that we’ll probably be down next summer for a festival like Soundwave or maybe a headlining tour.”

Trivium are no strangers to the Soundwave circuit having joined the likes of Faith No More, Jane’s Addiction and Paramore on the festival in 2010.

I hope so. I wanted to see these guys each time they've come out but I only caught the end of them at Soundwave.

Seen them twice and they are brilliant, have definately come a long way with their live show.

Can't wait for the new album.

I liked Dusk Dismantled too. If the album is as good as Shogun I'll be very happy.

Yeah Shogun is what got me into them. I've only got that and Ascendancy. I've heard mixed things about The Crusade.

I've read a lot of people say Ascendancy is their best but I think Shogun gives you a better idea of their sound and the riffs are killer. It's all nice and thrashy, a little removed from the more "metalcore" (could be wrong genre term, a give about half a fuck), sound of Ascendancy.

The Crusade wasn't great, To The Rats is about the only song I've heard them play from it live.

Shogun or Ascendancy, you can't go wrong with either of them imo.

There's a strong influence but I'd hardly say they are derivative.

It would be like saying my favourite Tool album is In the Court of the Crimson King

Listened to Shogun. I thought it was pretty good until I realised it was only a couple of years old.

I felt there were a lot of strong influences in there (notably early 90's Metallica) but for an album from 2008 it just didn't strike me as being that progressive.

I still enjoyed it though.
