Exclusive Kasabian gig inMelbourne

Kasabian will play a special one off gig in Melbourne in October but there’s a catch – you can only buy tickets with a Debit MasterCard.

The gig at the Peninsula in Melbourne’s Docklands will be the band’s only live show on a brief tour to promote their fourth album, Velociraptor!, which will be released in September.

So far we’ve only heard the album track Switchblade Smiles, but the first single Days Are Forgotten will be released this Friday and will hopefully back the words of guitarist Serge Pizzorno who has claimed a recent NME interview that the album “makes you feel great. Get your fucking jacket on, whack your fucking shoes on. It makes you believe things are going to happen.”

right now i wish melbourne and sydney didn't exist so that bands like kasabian who drop down here for a promotional tour would do their one-off gig in brisbane instead!! oh well, they'll be back next year i hope..

you could just apply for one really, like it's not gonna take that much effort really? and they aren't that bad, i've even got one? anyway, i can (and do) constantly complain that i can't go to gigs merely because i'm not old enough? like what the fuck? shame on you promoters, bands, venues and adults as a collective group

I'm a fan and if I didn't have a mastercard I wouldn't care cause I've seen Kasabian 3 times in the last 18 months. It isn't like they never tour Australia.

Put up with Mastercard Bollocks, MC's, Camera crews and $7 carlton draught.
Kasabian however were well worth the downs, dominating and showing why they are a BDO headliner once more.
New songs such as 'days are forgotten, goodbye kiss, velociraptor, switchblade smiles' etc getting the crowd in despite the obvious amount of people new to the songs. The old songs popular as ever 'L.S.F, Empire, Vlad the impaler, Where did all the love go and 'fire' sending everyone home chanting and smiling.
Well worth a few bruises and an empty Mastercard.

not a bad show at all. spent probably 10 times the $$$ on the lighting than they did the sound system, was awful for the first handful of songs. settled down after that. didn't think the mastercard thing was that pronounced, a few banners and shit here and there but never once mentioned by anyone other than that mc lass who had the task of getting us to stand still for 4 mins. well played love.

Ah that's right - i just figured carrying a Mojo or NME would be a less painful way of pledging allegiance to Brit rock than getting a union jack guitar tattoo.

I agree I was just trying to make my review more exciting. Sound wasn't great at times hey, lights were pretty good too.

i was expecting Mastercard to be plastered all over the whole venue and banners behind the band etc. i got told my photos had to show that it was a Mastercard gig, but seeing as there was nothing behind the band i just had to take a random shot of the bit at the entrance on my way out.
