Harvest festival lineup

We’ve been hearing whispers about the Harvest Festival for quite a while now with several incredibly tantalizing rumours doing the rounds and now, well over a month since we uncovered the tour dates, we finally have a lineup!

Harvest Presents “The Gathering” has been created by the team behind the Soundwave and Soundwave Revolution festivals has been touted as a “thrilling and magical banquet for the senses featuring exhilarating music, stunning location, beautiful art installations, playful and subversive performance, quality food and markets, and a strong ecological and social consciousness.” A far cry from the sort lineups we’ve come to expect from Soundwave, but we’re certainly not complaining!

Featuring two main stages, one big top stage and a cabaret tent, the festival will be headlined by Portishead, who haven’t toured Australia in 13 years, the lineup also features The Flaming Lips, Bright Eyes, The National, Mercury Rev and The Family Stone (apparently without Sly).

There are no Harvest sideshows planned in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, but according to one of the festival’s promoters, AJ Maddah, there will “be a few shows in Adelaide, Perth and Auckland” during the 5 day break between shows in Sydney and Brisbane. He has also indicated that there will be a Flaming Lips sideshow in Adelaide with support from Foxy Shazam. Portishead and Mercury Rev sideshows have been announced in Perth and Adelaide.

Following the cancellation of the Soundwave Revolution, Kevin Devine is a late addition to the Harvest lineup.

Way to alienate both types of music fans you want to cater to.

Harvest backtracking/distancing themselves on FB:

He is the promoter yes, but a personal account is not official. What AJ wants to happen is not always what happens in reality. Often circumstances conspire and cause delays and people get upset, however we never, from any page, go public with dates unless all our ducks are line up ready to go.

Not cancelled so much as being downgraded from a Harvest to picking a few vegies from the garden.

Stefan Beck

Gregg, I'd say it's more a case of AJ Maddah jumping the gun, announcing an announcement time and then failing to meet it.

Not a full on cancellation.

supported by Forever The Sickest Kids.

Also, the electric picnic guy is probably embarrassed as hell right now to be working with a loose cannon like AJ. I can just imagine him trying to clean up the mess Maddah's making on the corporate side (with artists, management, agents, etc.) while AJ continues his amazing run towards Be-Your-Own-Worst-Enemy glory.

I wonder if that's the old: two alternating main stages + tent set up.

That would mean max 2 bands playing at the same time and probably keep clashes to a minimum.

Ps. Thanking you.

The crowd was so packed for CYHSY in the laneway they were playing that it was impossible to move.

Dancing or not dancing has no impact whatsoever on the music being played on the stage.
