Needs more TISM.

But still, I think I'll go.

This is a nice line up.

I'm not complaining that they are on there, but Grinderman suprised me as headliners, I wouldn't really consider them a classic band.

Obviously the people in the group are classic artists though.

I agree. I'm sure they would have preferred to get Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I'm sure most of the crowd would have too.

I'd love to see the Bad Seeds.

No Tism, Custard, Gerling means I can happily go to Subsonic festival and not regret it.

this is the classics lineup?

i guess the death of silverchair and powderfinger in the same year killed their classic plans.

Huh?

Icehouse, The Church, The Triffids, Grinderman which although not classic contains several of Australia's most 'classic' musicians.

NOT having Silverchair or Powderfinger makes it much more classic and special for me...
The Church are the most under-rated band in Aussie history, I cannot wait to see them again.

wouldn't really call UMO an Australian/NZ band just because they have an NZ dude in the band, especially when they live in the US. If that is all they need, lets get Warpaint too.

It would be amazing if Icehouse played BDO as second/third highest Australian act on the bill. They're so good

hardly a 'classic' line up. the only classic like bands are the church and icehouse. bar unknown mortal orchestra and grinderman it's just the same old shit. go to meredith instead!

I love the Church and as much as I like Flowers (Icehouse are pants), this is a rather half ass classic lite lineup. If everyone hates Queen playing shows, the Triffids playing should be causing aneurysms.

thats why they needed a year off.... to decide who to replace them with in the lineup!

ditto. Far as I can tell, the "classic" bands are Icehouse, Church and Triffids.

Now, don't get me wrong, these are all good gets. But most lineups have one or two classic bands on them, so this could just as easily have been described as a regular homebake lineup, and would have been just the same...

Faris

Faris said on the 22nd Jul, 2011

splendour is probably the most 'classic' festival this year

coldplay, living end, janes addiction, mars volta, pulp, the hives are all old as fuck

DinkiDIDude

hehehehe

Iconic late 80's + early 90's Aussie bands, mixed with Quirky current Aussie acts.............swap the word Aussie with International and havent we got Laneway?

Spicy McHaggis

Spicy McHaggis said on the 23rd Jul, 2011

Laneway screams hipster to me; Homebake never has.

sarcasm_mister

sarcasm_mister said on the 23rd Jul, 2011

call it what you like. end of the day it's a quality festival. on top of that it's hard to compare the two considering Homebake is about triple the size.

DinkiDIDude

Yeah good point, it just strikes me with a lack of the usual suspects (ie Karnivool, Grinspoon etc), the organsiers are aiming a little left of centre this time around.
