The Mark Of Cain return
Thu 14th Jul, 2011 in Local News
One of this country’s most unyielding rock bands, The Mark Of Cain, are set to release their first album since 2001’s This Is This.
After a decade of “writing, recording and finding time around day jobs” the Adelaide three-piece will finally unleash Songs Of The Third & Fifth on the world sometime in the next few months. Recorded in their hometown the band produced the record themselves and before shipping it off to Melbourne to be mixed by Forrester Savell ( Karnivool, Cog, Bords Of Tokyo ).
Guitarist John Scott has said of the new record: “It’s been a hard couple of years and I never expected the album to take so long to complete but we are now coming to its final moments before it is thrust into the world for better or worse. Most musicians always think/say that their most recent recording is their best – I can understand that as it’s the most tangible piece of art they’ve been close to, but also, I know in my heart that this album is the best thing we have ever done.”
While we will get our first taste of Songs Of The Third & Fifth next month when the band release its first single, the album won’t be dropped to later in the year.
