#BringBackRecovery campaignupdate
Thu 7th Jul, 2011 in Local News
Ever since the untimely demise of Video Hits on Tuesday there has been growing support for FL’s call to #BringBackRecovery. It seems that quite a number of people, including the hosts themselves, are keen to see the 90s favourite back on our screens.
Since we published our Top 25 Recovery moments, the twitter-sphere has gone into overdrive, with Jane Gazzo, Dylan Lewis, Angus ‘The Enforcer’ Sampson and movie reviewer turned mega successful Horror flick maker Leigh Whannell all weighing in.
Whannell kicked things off yesterday tweeting,”I’m up for it. All I need is a wig and a kilo of amphetamines.” To which Gazzo responded “Come on @ABC_TVAustralia.. we’re ready for a Recovery Special!!.”
Sampson seemed a little less sure tweeting: “Imagine us all filming a ‘Recovery’ special in 2011. Would have to be with Zimmer frames!” While Dylan Lewis responded today with an emphatic “And yes! Let’s #BringBackRecovery @LWhannell @AngusSampson @janegazzo woooo ha!”
Despite all this activity ABC told Daily SPA today that “there are currently no plans for an ABC-TV music channel. While Recovery was a fantastic show which contributed to Australian music history our focus is on new and innovative music programming,”
Nevertheless we are not letting the dream die. If we can’t get the show itself back, we still live in hope of a Count Down style spectacular featuring hosts and a bunch of late 90s Aussie bands. Are we dreaming?
And just for good measure, here is a couple of clips of Leigh and The Enforcer, that didn’t make it onto out top 25.
