Foo Fighters dates leaked?

Earlier today the Foo Fighters confirmed they would be announcing their Australian tour dates at midnight, but as fate would have it they seem to have leaked early.

A page on both the Frontier and Ticktek websites lists five stadium sized gigs this November and December, at which the Foos will be supported by the greatest band in the world Tenacious D with promise of even more exciting supports.

The Foos first hinted at their tour when on our shores in March for the world premier of their seventh album Wasting Light, at a private gig on Goat Island in Sydney Harbour. The FL reviewer who attended the event, which saw the band play the new record from start to finish plus an hours worth of classic back-catalogue, concluded: “When a band can put on shows like this, they’ll keep selling records and filling arenas. And for good reason.”

The Foo's have tended to go for bigger bills when playing huge shows. When they played Hyde Park the supports were Motorhead, QOTSA and AAA.

I assume Tenacious D will get a decent set. I think it would be hard to convince the devil to come up from hell and shred guitars and smash drums for you for a less than half an hour set.

They'd start the show earlier. Pearl Jam went on at like 8 and played until nearly 11. First act was Liam Finn and he went on at 5:30 or something like that.

I didn't go to that show, but I saw The Cure on their last tour at the Ent Cent and that was a three hour show too. Whilst it was an awesome show, I think it would have been better if it was between 2-2.5 hours in length.

True story. I definitely wouldn't want AC/DC to play for three hours.

I just think that once a band has played for two hours it really becomes a question of diminishing returns.

Apart from the awesome length of the Cure show (couldn't believe how long they went for!), the Goat Island show for the Foo Fighters was without a doubt better because of the increased length in the setlist. Probably the best concert I've ever gone to as well.

Foo fighters concerts have always been really well priced considering how much they'd be able to get away with charging. (in saying that I wouldn't care what amount they'd charge :P )

with less than 14hrs til pre sale starts. still no sign of ticket prices.......i blame shazie. they probably had great affordable prices ready to go then saw that post. now i'm expecting they're going to divide up the stadium into the Grohl Bowl for $800 which gets you the best spot and a packet of plain packaged dave grohl insignia smokes, Fighters Ring for $600 where you'll get the chance to be personally kicked out by dave, Monkey Wrench Wench for $400 with seats in the stands and a personal beer wench and finally the Gold(smith) Zone for $200 where your ticket is taken by dave.

According to Wikipedia, U2 got around 60K, where as Robbie Williams got around 80K. I would guess both of those figures are made up and the actual number is somewhere in between.

How would you know when clearly you spend most of your money going to see the same act over and over again?

Did you ever think that rather than travel the country and go to every Foo Fighters concert, you could have probably gone overseas and seen them somewhere interesting instead? Presumably in a venue a lot smaller than a football stadium.

Seen them 3 times this year already and also going to their sydney show but man that's overkill. Braveheart is right, would've been much better to see a local show and then spend the rest of your(?) money seeing them overseas at a different place, maybe even a festival where you could've seen a ton of other bands alongside them.

But to be honest, the sydney goat island show is probably the best concert I've ever been to (i'm sure i've said somewhere on this thread...)

I got burnt by the Foos last time around. Went to both Melbourne nights and the shows were virtually identical. Pretty much the same set-list, same word-for-word banter between songs, same stage poses, same solos. *YAWN*

Will only do one show this year.

Ninty, if you want to do a full tour it has to be Pearl Jam. No two shows are the same making each one a special experience, on their 2009 Aust tour over 5 shows in 5 cities they would've trotted out 60-70 different songs.

From The Living End's FB - Contrary to some radio reports, The Living End are NOT playing with the Foo Fighters on their Australian tour. They are, however doing their own tour, so check it out!
