All Tomorrow's Parties (thefilm) hits Australia
Wed 29th Jun, 2011 in Local News
Two years since All Tomorrow’s Parties revealed they were making a movie tracking the course of the musical event through splicing together footage from over 200 film-makers, fans and musicians, it is hitting Australia.
This month All Tomorrow’s Parties (the movie) is receiving limited release in Australia. The ‘DIY concert film’ features performances from the likes of Battles, Sonic Youth, Patti Smith, Iggy and The Stooges, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more.
It is described as a “semi-found bricolage made from Super8, camcorder and mobile phone footage contributed by over two hundred people” tracking the festival’s recent history. However, being ATP this isn’t some slap-dash affair either, there are key contributions from co-director Jonathan Caouette and cinematographer Vincent Moon (The Take Away Shows, Arcade Fire).
Now hopefully this leads to a return of the actual event to our shores sometime in the near future.
You can catch All Tomorrow’s Parties in limited release now at the following cinemas:
Melbourne – Cenema Niva
Sydney – Dendy Newtown
Adelaide – Palace Nova
Brisbane – Tribal Theatre
