First Falls Festival line-up2011

Falls Festival have jumped the gun early this year confirming a handful of their headliners for this year’s event.

With rumours already flying thick and fast it comes as no surprise that Arctic Monkeys will be bringing their latest tunes to Falls in Lorne and Marion Bay for New Year’s Eve.

Joining them will be Seatlle folk rockers Fleet Foxes, the legendary Tim Finn, reggae crew Easy All Stars performing their Pink Floyd tribute Dub Side of the Moon, Australian stars in the making The Jezabels and comedian Arj Barker (who is strangely billed above Fleet Foxes on the lineup. Yeah, it’s just alphabetical but it still looks damn odd).

Another 60 acts will be confirmed for the Falls festival in the coming months with experimental trio Battles and English electro pop act Metronomy likely additions as both recently made statements suggesting that they’ll be in Australia for New Years.

No problems at all with AM and Fleet Foxes. The latter were great at Falls a few years back. Really nice guys too.

Think tickets are usually about $350-400, but it's always worth considering/factoring in how much you might spend on New Years etc

last years line up was announced mid august. so maybe this year they're announcing the acts as they confirm them instead of holding them back until they have everyone.

dripping in win already. last years was one of the best experience of my life. not necessarily cause the bands were off the wall amazing (they were pretty fucking great though), but the whole vibe was top drawer.
good start for this years lineup, so well played falls fest, you've got my money already.

parklife has also done it, with their lineup this year it works well as different people may think of different acts as the headliner, and who i'd consider the biggest act on the lineup career-wise (the streets) almost gets lost amongst the rest of the names on the poster/website.

Just book your accommodation early. That area will be packed over New Years.

Apollo Bay is a bit further along the coast and is really nice. I stayed there for a few days a couple of years ago.

Definitely in for Battles and tUnE-yArDs sideshows.

Battles were brilliant in Bristol last week, John Stainier is an absolute machine.

well if that line up is true then it will be a feast of sideshows over new years. i'll be hoping to catch Arctic Monkeys, Fleet Foxes, DCFC and TV on the Radio sideshows and if finances allow maybe even Battles. fingers crossed for an awesome double bill somewhere in there.

Some sideshows clash with the fest, I think Junip did last year? Most of the majors don't though.

There's a seven day gap between Falls and Southbound so I assume that's when the majority of sideshows will happen. If I miss an Arctic Monkeys sideshow due to going home for xmas I'm going to be punch santa in the cock.
