Steve Kilby and Ricky Maymitour
Tue 28th Jun, 2011 in Local News
In one of the most unusual musical couplings since Muscles flexed his musical prowess alongside Tim Rogers many moons ago, The Church’s Steve Kilby has teamed up with Brian Jonestown guitarist Ricky Maymi to write an album of psychedelic gems entitled The Wilderness Years by David Neil.
According to their press release the album’s namesake, David Neil, is “An enigmatic and ephemeral rock star from days past” whose music was “dug up” by Kilby and offered up for all to hear with the help of Miami.
Whether or not Neil is actually a real person is up for debate ( perhaps over a pipe or two ) but what isn’t up for debate is the fact Kilby and Maymi are hitting the road alongside Shaun and Adrian Hoffmann for a run of dates to promote the new record.
And to make this tour all the more special they will be joined by Jill and Alsy from The Triffids and Richard Lane of The Stems making for an epic line up of Australian rock n’ roll legends.
Catch Steve and Ricky at the following dates:
Sunday 3rd July – Mojo’s, North Fremantle
Wednesday 6th July – Beach Road Hotel, Sydney
Thursday 7th July – Notes, Sydney
Friday 8th July – Ding Dong, Melbourne
Saturday 9th July – Rebublic Bar, Hobart
All dates except Beach Road Hotel with Jill & Alsy (The Triffids) and Richard Lane (The Stems)
