'Taking Back Sunday' albumstream

Taking Back Sunday have gone back to the lineup that released the band’s debut album Tell All Your Friends way back in 2002 with the return of John Nolan’s lead guitar and keyboards and Shaun Cooper’s bass.

The record was written in an El Paso, Texas, earlier this year, not the debut album line up reunited for the first time in years. “No one said anything for a while and then we started laughing at each other,” by lead singer Adam Lazzara told Spin earlier this year, “We just sat on the porch and were like, ‘Whoa, this is really happening.’ And later that night, we all got in a room and from the second everyone strapped on instruments, ideas came out, like they’d been waiting.”

The record kicks off with El Paso which has been described by lead singer Adam Lazzara as “probably the heaviest rock song we’ve ever written.” Lazzara has also highlighted the combination of a “huge, punishing” chorus with a gentler verse, and feels like a “roller coaster” on Don’t Lose Your Faith in Me and the “James Bond, kind of spy/surf-y vibe” of Money.
