Jim Ward solo tour

At the Drive-In reunion! Well… almost.

Founding member of At the Drive-In, Jim Ward will miss his former bands mates Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López by just days when he tours Australia in August, just days after Mars Volta wrap up their Splendour tour.

Ward, currently lead guitarist/vocalist of Sparta, will be touring his debut solo album, Quiet In The Valley, On The Shores The End Begins with three shows on the East Coast. While the Mars Volta will play theatre shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Jim Ward solo tour:
Wednesday 10th August – Annandale Hotel, Sydney
Friday 12th August – East Brunswick Club, Melbourne
Saturday 13th August – Alhambra Lounge, Brisbane

Tickets on sale Friday 24th June

i like the shit out of this. i've seen sparta five times and jim ward twice and each time has been unreal. he comes across as one of the nicest, most genuine guys. cant's wait.

How is one member touring his solo album without any other members, playing any ATDI or even hinting at anything ATDI related even remotely almost a reunion?

It was a poor attempt at humour. It would have been kind of funny if Tony was touring with Jim. They would reunite if people realized how crap the Mars Volta are and stopped buying their records and seeing their shows.

I'm a fairly big ATDI fan and I don't think ATDI and TMV can really be compared (though it is perfectly natural for people to do so and I understand why they do) as they are totally different in terms of the music and general idea behind it. TMV's live shows are somewhat unpredictable but mostly excellent - having only seen one show of theirs I can attest to it being a great experience. Obviously it is nothing like any ATDI show and ATDI were undoubtedly a far better band but I don't think TMV are terrible by any means.

What I'm basically trying to say is that TMV are a good band in their own right and just because something isn't as good as ATDI doesn't necessarily mean it's terrible.

As for the reunion talk, I still (perhaps in vain) hold out hope that it may one day take place. Omar in particular has suggested that Jim wouldn't be entirely averse to the prospect though Jim hasn't seemed to express a great deal of interest himself. If those two agree, I would be under the impression that Tony, Paul and Cedric would follow suit.

That's a real nice story and all but who here is comparing them? You have created an imaginary argument to argue with yourself.
I have seen both live more than once. You didn't need a cone to enhance an ATD-I show.
This subject has been touched on in numerous threads over the years. I know that the ATD-I reunion isn't going to happen, and the serious reasons behind it, so no need to go into it all again.

they are two different bands. mars volta are amazing live,but they are a psychedelic band,so take some psychedelics an your mind will be blown, otherwise it can be difficult to comprehend.

It was never an argument, just a point of view. Basically I was just saying what I thought with regard to the ATDI vs TMV issue (I thought that would've been fairly clear). I agree with a lot of your points and I wasn't actually complaining/arguing with you. Anyhow, carry on.
