Parklife 2011 lineup

If Van Halen, Hole and Alice Cooper and the rest of the Soundwave Revolution lineup doesn’t quite do it for you have another option for your September/early October festival dollar – Parklife.

Sure, the festival has traditionally offered a dance-heavy bill, but last year the likes of Wombats, Dandy Warhols and Derwin Deez easily out performed festival headliner Missy Elliot and there’s plenty to get excited about again this year. However, despite sharing a name with one of Blur’s biggest hits the festival has again failed to lure the band to Australia, for shame!

They got some pretty amazing catches this year. DFA on their reunion tour, the Streets last tour, hottest 100 toppers like Adrian Lux and Duck Sauce on their first Australian tour, other first timers like Katy B, Crystal Fighters and Example.

BDO need to get some fresh acts like these, this lineup shits on anything they've produced in years.

BDO need to get some fresh acts like these, this lineup shits on anything they've produced in years.

I'm not a fan of recent BDO line-ups, but it still manages to sell out every year so I don't think they're too worried about changing their formula - and even if they were, booking a reunited indie hype band with a cult following and a few DJs with one hit wouldn't help them all that much.

Mylo's album was so motherfucking boss that I don't care that he didn't do anything else since then. He could play Otto's Journey and then mix it into Rikki and then vice-versa for the duration of his set and I'd be happy.

I'd only have a couple, personally. I'd go for Santigold at the Metro, DFA at OAF, maybe Lykke Li at the Manning or somewhere like that? The Streets should do some shows, too, seeing as they almost definitely won't be back.

Report in the Sun Herald today. Lykke Li has been behaving fairly erratically lately. She cancelled her performance at the Flow Festival in Finland just 2hrs before she was meant to go on stage citing sudden health issues as the reason. She was scheduled in to do a series of interviews last week but never turned up and was no where to be found. She has cancelled 5 shows already on this tour.

Definitely. It's the best festival/carpark for the footy site there is.

It's at its best if it's really dry and gets windy. The dust storms can be fantastic.
