Overground 2011
Fri 10th Jun, 2011 in Local News
The Melbourne International Jazz Festival’s centrepiece event ‘Overground’ is set to take over the Melbourne Town Hall this Sunday.
The full festival line-up was announced last in March , with the likes of Sun Ra Arkestra, Faust and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble taking their place amongst a strong field of artists.
This weekend, Overground will pair many of those from the line-up in a series of unusual collaborations.
The deafening bliss of locals ZOND will be partnered with Nick Tammens and Marco Fusinato, while dynamic two-piece Fabulous Diamonds will square off against Naked On The Vague.
Event co-curator Joel Stern told Mess + Noise that Overground represents “a kind of radical proposition for how to experience and approach cutting edge music.”
