APRA nominations announced

The nominees for the 2011 APRA Awards have been announced, and it seems the last year in Australian music can be summed up by four bands bands: Jet, Birds Of Tokyo, John Butler Trio and Angus & Julia Stone.

Both Jet and Birds Of Tokyo are nominated in the Rock Work Of The Year category alongside FL forum fodder Amy Meredith. Despite breaking ‘Our Delta’s’ heart Brian McFadden has received a nod in the Dance category with fellow hard-hitting beat maker Zoe Badwi

Although classics such as Pendulum’s remix of the ABC News Theme and Thirsty Merc’s All My Life made it onto the longlist for Song Of The Year in March they have not made the final cut, being trumped by the Stone siblings and John Butler Trio.

I love Katy's album, but Train is essentially what Satan would listen to if his favourite colour was beige.

Some really thought provoking work from Bri Bri

Chemical Rush - Brain McFadden

Chess game, I'm the pawn
You're the queen, I'm the throne
Take me out tonight

Make your move, pick and choose
Anywhere I'm gonna lose
Give it to me black or white

Feel it coming on
Like a pulse in my head
Sending chills right through my bones
Keep coming on strong
An external emotion
I'm waiting to implode

You give me a rush
A chemical rush
A chain reaction is taking me
You give me a rush
I can't get enough, of your chemical rush

Push the buttons, flick the lights on in my head
A vision's of you and I
You read me like a letter
Oh girl you make me st-stutter
With your magic I'll be hypnotized

Feel it coming on
Like a pulse in my head
Sending chills right through my bones
Keep coming on strong

An external emotion
I'm waiting to implode

You give me a rush
A chemical rush
A chain reaction is taking me
You give me a rush
I can't get enough, of your chemical rush
Of your chemical rush
Of your chemical rush

Chess game, I'm the pawn
You're the queen, I'm the throne
Take me out tonight

Make your move, pick and choose
Anywhere I'm gonna lose
Give it to me black or white

You give me a rush
A chemical rush
A chain reaction is taking me
You give me a rush
I can't get enough, of your chemical rush
Of your chemical rush
Of your chemical rush
Of your chemical rush

It reads like a list of artists you'd overhear your parents saying were "what young people are listening to these days"

I'd like everyone to go home and give their 14 year old sister/cousin/next door neighbour a swift slap to the back of the head for singlehandedly destroying the Australian music scene.

I play in a Westlife cover band that only covers songs Westlife covered. We play Uptown Girl 15 times a set.

I don't think you need to limit your set quite so much.

They're a prolific covers band!

... and I use the term 'band' loosely.
