Bon Scott: the play
Tue 24th May, 2011 in Local News
You’ve seen End Of Fashion singer Justin Burford in the 80s inspired musical Rock Of Ages and now you can see 80s hit maker Nick Barker strutting the boards as legendary AC/DC frontman Bon Scott in a forthcoming stage production.
Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be – The Story Of Bon Scott is a play based on the short, but eventful life of Ronald Belford Scott who died at aged 33 in 1980 after choking on his own vomit. Documenting his years as the singer of a handful of bands including The Valentines and Fraternity the show will focus on the years before Scott went on to front the biggest rock band in the world.
Speaking with Undercover Barker, who fronted the 80s rock band Barker & the Reptiles and had a triple hit with his solo track “Time Bomb in 1993, said “Bon Scott is an Australian icon as much as Ned Kelly. We’re doing his show with the humility and truth that it deserves.”
Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be will run from July 12th at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne.
