Avenged Sevenfold return

US rockers Avenged Sevenfold are set to return to Australia this August, only months after they were pulled from the Soundwave line-up by promoter AJ Maddah for “refusing to play at the same time as Maiden”.

This time around the band will play five headline shows supported by metal stalwarts Sevendust, who did make it down under in February for Soundwave with original guitarist Clint Lowery back in the mix.

Avenged were last on our shores in May 2008, only one year before the tragic death of their drummer Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan, who passed away the following year. Of their last performance with Sulivan in Australia our reviewer said: “Appearing onstage as if they’d come straight from an American biker dive, they menacingly launched into the ominous organs of Critical Acclaim and weren’t going to release the throttle for anyone.”

You can catch Avenged Sevenfold with Sevendust at the following shows:

Thursday 28th July –Entertainment Centre, Brisbane
Saturday 30th July –Entertainment Centre, Sydney
Tuesday 2nd August –Festival Hall, Melbourne
Wednesday 3rd August –Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Saturday 6th August – Challenge Stadium, Perth

Tickets on sale Thursday 26th May at 9am.
