Aussie musos rock out with theDalai Lama

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet is coming to Australia this June and upon his arrival the Buddhist leader will be given, quite literally, a rock star’s welcome.

A list of Australia’s finest musos are lining up to perform for the Dali Lama at an exclusive Perth only concert titled Songs for the Dalai Lama: Sharing a Common Journey.

The event, which takes place at the Burswood Dome from 2pm on Sunday June 19th runs for seven hours and will raise money for charities supported by His Holiness for the benefit of the people of Tibet.

The full line-up for the Dalai Lame concert is:

I don't agree with this Beshakey dude -however, it is quite well known that DL has made these statements in the past. John Safran did a whole segment on his show about it.

If I'm honest I think I remember seeing that on Saffran too, but I hate it when people post these blanket statements and provide nothing to back it up.

Also Beshakey is kinda taking his words out of context, its not like the Dalai Lama said that everyone guilty of these "sins" should be executed!

The guy is a symbol for greater peace, love and understanding between all human beings, regardless of what they choose to do for kicks.

i don't really want to get into a whole back and forth. all i was pointing out was the dl has said some pretty unliberal things in the past, but they tend to get glossed over in favour of fawning over his peace, love, and understandingness.
its nice that he didn't say we should execute the homosexuals (not that i actually said he did), but is that really the bar for being a stand up guy? it'd be nice if people actually knew something about him before joining the love in, rather than just taking richard gere and the beastie boys word that hes buddalicious.

hello. the difference between yourself and the dalai lama is that even though you may not like him or respect his opinions or even tolerate his beliefs, i can guarantee you he has nothing but kindness and compassion for you. to be honest though, i'm not quite on his level, and i think you're a cock.

I think you've obviously had your homosexuality suppressed in the past and your choosing to vent your frustration at the Dalai Lama for saying that it is "contrary to Buddhism". You've turned his words into words of hate which they clearly are not, he didn't say that he doesn't recognise any buddhist who is gay, he didn't say that homosexuality is wrong in any way,shape or form. He just said it is contrary to Buddhist teachings from the past, the greatest thing about buddhism is that it isn't a religion and that it is open to new ideas and rolls with the punches that modern society throws at it.

And for the record I was not aware the Richard Gere and Beastie Boys were fans of his holiness.
