Changes to Parkway Drive‘Mix N Mash' tour lineup

In a double blow to the upcoming Parkway Drive “Mix N Mash” tour this May, You Me At Six and Bleeding Through have dropped off the tour lineup. Both bands have cited their “extended recording schedule” as the reason for the late cancellation.

Ohio band Miss May I, who blend death metal, thrash and melodic hardcore and released a new album Monuments in 2010, have been added to the lineup.

The Wonder Years and Confession remain on the tour, which will also feature local support bands opening every show.

The Mix N’ Mash tour – Parkway Drive, Miss May I, The Wonder Years and Confession:
Wednesday 18th May – Riverstage, Brisbane
Thursday 19th May – High School, Byron Bay
Friday 20th May – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Saturday 21st May – Panthers, Newcastle
Sunday 22nd May – WIN Entertainment Centre, Wollongong
Wednesday 25th May – Festival Hall, Melbourne

Dad, what have I told you about using my computer!

Still not sure why people who clearly don't like this style of music continue to read and comment on the articles about them.

Ha well if you've followed another thread i actually threw an open enquiry out about Parkway Drive cos i hadn't heard them. i've always been a pretty big metal fan, and dig lamb of god and devildriver of the newer breed, Fucking love Soulfly, Pantera were awesome too. i'm also a lover of austalian music. I don't just like ALL metal though.... but it is pretty bloody clear to me that this whole non-metal image thing of PWD is just like what Helmet did in 1990 when they got big for a time and nothing original as such,

i could practically guarantee those nice Byron Bay Boys fucking love Helmet! They could do worse than listen to Helmet to get a bit of groove into their playing

A mate has been trying to get me into PWD and Bullet for my Valentine for months so i gave em a go, hated Bullet, didn't mind PWD but didn't find it overly inspiring or awesome, and i saw a video of em on rage last night and wasn't really into it at all. i dunno, it just doesn't strike me as anything with a bit of uniqueness

So call me old but don't call me Dad (or uneducated) cos i still rock bro, i'd like to see you keep up with me even today at any gig, let alone 20 years ago when i was a dumb child like you. Helmet are still current and touring so grab 50 bucks and check em out in australia in june for some real pioneers in true alternative metal ;)

This thread is totes awesome

Because it's the fucking internet and we can do as we please? How boring would this thread be if it was just "yeh pwd r sik m8 gon mosh s000 hard"

It's not like anyone's restricting you to threads solely on Bullet For My Valentine.

I'm all for people saying what they think, if it was constructive and something other than "they're shit" it'd be great and may actually invoke some decent discussion. I'm actually more concerned for your wellbeing, you seem to spend a lot of time on this forum being a negative nancy. I'm just worried that you may be a bit thin on for friends (real friends, not facebook friends) and aren't getting the social interaction required for you to grow and develop as a person during these tough pubescent years.

So PWD should be original and copy some of Helmets music to get a bit of groove? ;) I have heard of Helmet but don't own any of their albums, any suggestions for one to check out?

copy Helmet? ha no, i was only half serious. they're not too similar musically apart from both being heavy, PWD are more extreme for sure, it's really just a board-shorts thing why i linked them. I only arked up a bit cos you suggested i'm not qualified to talk about PWD... calm now :)

i do think they'd have already heard Helmet when they were younger given those PWD guys must obviously be pretty well educated when it comes to heavy music, i'd say that listening to music is their main inspiration, it ain't as though they're oppressed or faced with an environment that is typical of where metal comes from

i'm glad a band like PWD is popular, heavy music in australia was somewhat despised when i was 18. whilst they aint exactly my cup of tea i'd still listen to them every day of the week over anything from any popular top 40 chart! If i was 19 and surfed a lot they'd prob be my favorite band

generally speaking, a band can be 'influenced' by others' styles without blatantly copying... sometimes it's a fine line though.

on Helmet

"In The Meantime" was their second album, it's a good'un, perhaps the heaviest and angstiest although the first album "Strap It On" is good too, pretty rough and abrasive production-wise but i still love it and probably listen to it the most to this day, but start with "In the Meantime" or "Betty" like i did back when i discovered them.

Betty is the followup third album and was a bit more accessible, but still very good, improved production, probably their best quality release overall. at this point in time Helmet were as big as Tool.

or you could start with the brand new album "Seeing Eye Dog", i quite like it (the title track is killer, youtube it) but like most of their later albums (aftertaste, monochrome, size matters) they have their moments and some really great tracks, but with lineup changes and hiatuses (and age!) they aren't quite as intense or "cutting edge" as they were in the 90s, they miss Jon Stanier's freakish drumming, and probably aren't as strong from start to finish as the earlier albums. Their sound and style is so signature and so distinctly "Helmet" as such that it has gotten hard for them to keep pumping out quality track after track without some repetition or flat moments

but they still play great live and still have the passion and have so many good songs across their catalog, although he can talk in between songs a bit tooo much, $50 in my opinion is a bargain indeed, and i quite like the Manning Bar, going to uni makes me feel young haha
