Splendour In The Grass 2011tickets on sale

Splendour organisers have told triple j that the glitch that caused ticketing dramas has been fixed and that tickets are still on sale.

Earlier:
Banking issues have affected the Splendour ticket sales – although punters using iphone and android phones are reporting that they’ve been able to get through and purchase tickets. You can also try calling on 1300 GET TIX.

Tips on buying Splendour tickets

The Splendour organisers have also issued several updates about the banking issues:

“We can confirm that the Westpac glitch is affecting cards from Citibank, Suncorp, St George, Cashcard & Jetstar.

There’s a widespread issue with Westpac bank today Westpac are the bank ‘gateway’ by which ticket payments are processed, so this has caused big delays with early sales. Moshtix have now switched to a different bank gateway and sales should improve soon, if not already.

Next issue is that it seems Westpac and possibly St George credit cards MAY NOT WORK TODAY. We are doing everything we can to sort this out, but as you can see from the news story above, this Westpac problem is well beyond our control.

Just confirming that Westpac and St George credit cards CANNOT be used to purchase tickets due to the Westpac glitch. Transactions with these cards are being rejected and are holding up the sales process. Please use other cards. The payment gateway has now switched to another bank and sales should proceed more smoothly soon.

The cards/banks that will be affected are:
Westpac VISA, MasterCard and Debit
Potentially St George and Heritage as well.
Please do NOT use these credit cards. They are causing delays in the system due to transaction rejections.”

Tickets for Splendour In The Grass 2011 go on sale as of 9am this morning through Moshtix.

Taking place once again at the beautiful Woodfordia, tickets to Splendour will cost $390 (inc gst) Event + $120 (inc gst) Camping + booking fees, which gains entry to the festival for 3 days, from Friday 29 July to Sunday 31 July.

This year’s line-up may just be the festival’s biggest yet with Kanye and Coldplay performing their only Australia shows alongside Jane’s Addiction, The Hives and reformed Pulp and many more.

With over 80 acts listed on the sprawling Splendour in the Grass lineup is a daunting list filled with massive egos, returning favourites, upcoming locals and international next-big-things.

You could spend your days before Splendour listening to all the bands in preparation – if you devote one day to each band you can get through the whole lineup just in time for the festival. Or you could save time and check out FasterLouder’s handy guide to the picks of the festival.

Westpak users:
Don't worry that you can't use your Visa or Mastercard, just run down to another bank and get a new credit card before tickets sell out! LOL

Splendour has the worst ticket system ever, how many years has this been going on.

Glad I'm not even trying this year, last time I bought tickets at 9am that were finalised by 4pm.... longest transaction ever!

I'm not going but I can say happily that after trying for the last hour and 15 minutes, my girlfriend got tickets.

So I'm vicariously excited that she is going and even more excited that I won't have a grumpy girlfriend.

Moshtix updates from facebook:

Cards issued by banks affiliated with Westpac or St George, or using Westpac or St George technology may also experience difficulties.

We understand the inconvenience this must cause for Westpac, St George and related banks customers. The moshtix credit card payment system is online and sales continued to be processed. If possible, we recommend purchasing tickets using cards issued by other banking providers.

St George issued credit and debit cards may also experience payment difficulties. Tickets for Splendour In The Grass are still selling quickly, but are still available for sale. Again, we suggest if possible purchasing tickets with credit and/or debit cards issued by banking providers other than Westpac or St George.

Also, due to the issues with Westpac processing this morning, customers with Westpac issued credit and debit cards may experience payment difficulties. Tickets are still available for sale at this time, and we suggest if possible purchasing tickets with credit and/or debit cards issued by other banking providers.

Due to Westpac data centre shutdown, including the ATM and EFTPOS network this morning, there was a short delay in processing credit card orders.

Moshtix quickly switched to an alternative credit card processing provider, and orders are now being processed. We apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced this morning, however credit card processing is back online, tickets are available and selling fast.

Simplest explanation - mobile sites usually load different stylesheets, files, etc. The standard files are getting a hammering from all the people going in with standard browsers, but the files for the mobile site are probably much less used right now.

Also, they tend to be smaller, eg load less graphics, complex items etc.

Kanye (who helped track down Osama Bin Laden - also has ties with the NAB, Westpacs biggest competitor) is attempting to buy back fans after his crap albums and douche public appearances. He is actually paying splendour to play at the festival. If the grapevine has it right, which it usually does, Kanye will be heaping the same style of egotistical performance on splendour as the karaokanye bomb at coachella.....

Maybe they've finally reached a pricepoint that makes people reconsider buying tickets.

Hopefully this will give them some indication that making the lineup bigger every year and increasing the price isn't necessarily what a lot of fans want.

Maybe if Coldplay and Kanye West weren't headlining and tickets were $50 cheaper they would have sold out already?

I completely agree.

It is surely an indication of some sort of change amongst the punters though.

No one in their right mind would have been planning to go this year and not been trying to get their tickets today. It's not like there has ever been the luxury of logging on 8 hours after tickets go on sale and get straight in to buy tickets that are still available (not in the last half a dozen years or so anyway).

i think it would have to do with people reconsidering due to the major cost, $1500 upwards or so isn't it

and the two headliners don't fit in as much with lineup as they could
people who would see Coldplay or Kanye aren't really going to be thrilled with the rest of the lineup and those who think the rest of the lineup is good just won't want to pay that much for headliners they dont want

just thoughts, it's probably been said already, don't get all pissy about it

Without Kanye and Coldplay the lineup isn't that good anyway and hardly worth $450. Last years was so perfect because it had all the new breed of indie/rock/indie pop just as it was getting most popular (Florence, Mumford, Twodoor, Foals, Grizzly Bear, Temper Trap, Washington), same deal of a few years ago but still (kind of) relevant (Band of Horses, BRMC, Laura Marling, WAS, Ash) a classic headliner big in the last ten years that everyone loves and respects and fits in perfectly with Splendour (Strokes), nostalgia everyone cares about (Pixies) and very few (Richard Asscroft) with hip-hop/dance with enough indie crossover to appeal (LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, K-Os) and a wildcard (Scissor Sisters). Most importantly many of these bands either hadn't toured regularly in the last few years, or weren't popular the last time they did.

This year = 2 massive Glastonbury sized headliners hipsters loathe as a general rule and a bunch of acts that have toured here in the last year or two, many of whom (Mars Volta, Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay, Kele, Regina Spektor, The Hives, Janes Addiction, TLE, DIOYY) haven't released anything new since. Also the mixup tent is average looking and the lineup gets all boring and local after The Kills. And Bliss N Eso are playing. There is no wildcard/wow factor and not much which is popular at the moment.

Turns out she has 3 songs totalling a 12 minute set. I only knew Dirty Talk and that Guetta song, apparently she has some Laidback Luke junk now too. Instead of the Laidback Luke song and Dirty Talk she should have just played the Laidback Luke remix of Dirty Talk to save time. Also because it is a lot better than either of them. In her state I don't think she would have noticed.
