Radiohead newspaper giveaways

To commemorate the physical release of the Radiohead album The King of Limbs on Monday 28th March the band has produced a newspaper The Universal Sigh which will be given away, free, at select locations around the world.

You can grab a copy of The Universal Sigh in America, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Ireland, France, Italy, Slovakia, Finland, Greece, Norway, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Latvia, Iceland, Romania, New Zealand, the UK and even in Australia. Well, in Sydney and Melbourne.

According to the official website for The Universal Sigh:
This newspaper IS NOT the newspaper that accompanies the Newspaper Album version of The King of Limbs.
This event WILL NOT be repeated.
This event IS NOT a live performance by Radiohead.

A promo copy recently popped up on eBay which reveals that the tabloid size newspaper is 12 pages long and contains “a unique code”.

i has it in my head that i'd just stroll in at about 11.45 and crap a couple of copies, maybe i'm underestimating the radiohead diehard fan base

the line in melbourne is huge. stretched all the way round the corner from polyester then a block up elizabeth st. clearly we have more diehard fans!

I got there at about 11.20 and had a copy by 12.10. If you got to polyester after half past though, the line was pretty long. Is the code just going to link to the photo or..?

That would imply that I actually cared. To be honest, if Red Eye was much more than 150m away and there was any queue whatsoever, I wouldn't have bothered.

the PDF you download here is exactly the same as mine. it's pretty much what i remember of looking through the radiohead site a while ago (mostly just stanley donwood's artwork), bits of lyrics chopped into each other, and short stories from robert macfarlane (authr of 'the wild places'), jay griffiths ('wild: an element journey') and stanly donwood. 'infinity' is written in huge letters on one of the last pages. each copy came with a different code, and they took the photo of everyone that got a paper. on the paper with the code it just says 'please visit this site: www.theuniversalsigh.com '. see here: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10150123000493212&id=265508388211

A theory: The newspaper LP edition comes with 600 tiny pieces of artwork, all held together by a big sheet of plastic...and every one of the 1000 people who got one of the newspapers in each city had their photo uploaded to the universal sigh website...gonna say we ARE the artwork guys.
