The Kills confirmed forSplendour

The Killsa 5-1 sure thing in our Splendour betting – have confirmed that they’re on the way to play tracks from their fourth album Blood Pressures at the festival in July.

In an interview with Pedestrian Alison Mosshart answered a query about seeing the band tour Australia later this year by confirming our suspicions: “You definitely will, we’ll be down later this year for Splendour In The Grass.”

Mosshart and her partner in crime Jamie Hince will also play at the Fuji Rock festival alongside Arctic Monkeys, Mogwai, Wilco, Coldplay and Big Audio Dynamite on the same weekend as Splendour.

The oh-so-fashionable duo join The Vaccines and (almost certainly ) Elbow on the slowly leaking lineup.

I'm assuming the Dead Weather curse is that a collection of excellent musicians that sound amazing on paper are still able to produce unimpressive albums.

lineofbestfit

lineofbestfit said on the 24th Mar, 2011

that and the whole jack white not wanting to be in another band after them and all.

One band break does not a curse make.

I'm pretty sure he said he wasn't going to start any new bands, meaning he was still an active member of The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather.

The Greenhornes, Queens of the Stone Age and The Kills are all still very active so your curse isn't really holding much water there G-Man.

Really? I can understand liking Keep On Your Mean Side but I always thought No Wow was the weakest effort.

I found it's title quite acurate.

Each to their own though.

Fried My Little Brains is still my favourite Kills song.

That said, I haven't listened to the new album yet.

berlinchair101

I love Kissy Kissy from the first record and Last Day of Magic best from Midnight Boom.

Rodeo Town from No Wow is also top stuff.

MilkySheep

MilkySheep said on the 24th Mar, 2011

Yeah I guess I sort of agree on No Wow, I prefer it to Midnight Boom but it doesn't hold up against Blood Pressures or Keep On Your Mean Side.

Blood Pressures could quite possibly be their best effort though, it is addictive listening.

The Kills are an improvement on a lot of the acts from last year (Passion Pit, Mumford & Sons, etc).

Looking forward to it!
