Pre-game entertainment is back
Tue 22nd Mar, 2011 in Local News
To make up for the fact they forced Australia to watch Collingwood supporters dance with Lionel Ritchie at last year’s Grand Final, the AFL has announced that it is teaming up with Music Victoria to introduce some local music back into Friday night footy games at the MCG.
Heading up the very first pre-match gig in 2011 is Little Red, who will be rocking to the break of dawn (or at least the first bounce) on Friday March 25th at the Geelong vs St Kilda super clash.
A permanent stage will be established in the Southern Stand to host a range of AFL and club activity through the season, the first four weeks of which are totally dedicated to live music and distracting Richmond fans from the woeful season ahead.
The Friday Night Live Music program for 2011:
Friday 25th March – Little Red @ Geelong vs St Kilda
Friday 1st April – Paris Wells @ St Kilda vs Richmond
Friday 8th April – Super Group @ Collingwood vs Carlton
Friday 15th April – Airbourne @ Richmond vs Collingwood
Now in a salute to the finest pre-match entertainment ever witnessed in this country here is Angry Anderson, in a bat mobile. (Special thanks to Mess + Noise for re-discovering this gem).
