Elbow touring for Splendour?

Update: In an interview with FL this afternoon Elbow’s drummer Richard Jupp confirmed the band’s touring plans: “I am the lowly drummer, so at the moment I am been led by our wonderful tour manager. We’re doing Splendour and I’m not sure what we’re doing… a couple of shows but I’m not sure when or where.”

They visited us for V Fest in 2009, for Playground Weekender in 2007 and to support Placebo way back in 2003 and now Mercury award winners Elbow have announced that they’re coming back for another tour.

There’s no statement from the band and no dates have been leaked, but the TV advertisement for the band’s new album Build a Rocket Boys! has jumped the gun and revealed that Elbow will be touring in July.

As Splendour in the Grass just happens to be on that month it seems fairly safe to assume that the Mancunian indie rock group will join fellow Brits The Vaccines on the festival lineup.

I tried to go but my mrs didn't finish work until 7 when doors opened. Got there at 8 and there were two lines going in either direction of the door with the venue itself already well and trully full. Disappointing as I was really keen to see Evil Eddie after missing him at X&Y

It is nowhere near as interesting as Elbow's previous efforts. It is boring and lacks Garvey's usually great lyrics. The band have said they were in a different place when they made this album, they were happy and they struggled to find any recent events to draw lyrics from. It shows. The album is extremely bland.

The only people I know who like this band regularly watch theatresports (and they don't have the excuse of "attending uni") and drink loose leaf tea.

It's like one of those flavourwire stereotypes, except this is real life.

Their latest couple of albums may sound dreary and/or boring, but i'd recommend a good listen to cast of thousands before making this kind of judgement about the band. brilliant album.

Actually I was only referring to the new album King Of Limbs, their older songs have plenty of coherant structure and melodies.
I don't hate Radiohead, just not loving the new album, whereas I liked the new Elbow album instantly.
I was just comparing the two new releases, both bands are great in general....
