Metal & Hardcore's New Home InSydney
Fri 5th Aug, 2005 in Local News
In a day and age where Sydney has more promising metal and hardcore bands than ever, it seems that the live music scene is overrun with bands desperately trying to be cool, rather than trying to write music with any sort of substance. So where does that leave hardcore and metal fans? Neither scene has ever wanted anything to do with fashion (except for Manowar, perhaps), so it seems that bands are doomed to play crappy venues with bad sound for a pittance (or more likely, beer).
So with this in mind Rock Formation and FasterLouder have teamed to gether to present to you METAL iN THE VEINS (MiTV).
METAL iN THE VEINS is a metal and hardcore festival set to run quarterly which will not only provide today’s current heavyweights with more frequent opportunities to play in Sydney’s better known venues, but to give the up and comers a great platform from which to be noticed and gain valuable live experience. The main focus behind the event is to provide regular shows where punters and talent scouts alike can come along and get a fix of their favourite bands and perhaps discover something new in the process.
The first MiTV will be happening over two huge nights.
Friday, 26th August – Excelsior Hotel, Surry Hills. Featuring: (Tocata), The Crisis Therapy (Qld), theblackartsmovement, This World, Astin
Saturday, 27th August – The Metro, Transit Lounge. Featuring: 1 Shot Kill, Five Star Prison Cell (Melb), Tension (Melb), The Hollow Cell, Intrepid, Dawn of Destruction, The Kost
Check the FasterLouder gig guide for more information and tickets will be available at our online ticket shop soon, as well as the usual outlets.
As a special bonus, every payer will receive a compilation CD featuring tracks from most of the bands playing on both nights. So get along and support Sydney’s metal and hardcore bands.
