Rise Against tour

Frequent visitors to our shores, Rise Against were last in Australia for the 2010 Big Day Out where they won over legions of new fans and cemented their reputation as one of America’s finest punk exports. Having spent the last year recording their new album Endgame the band is set to return to Australia this July for a huge national tour.

Produced by the legendary Bill Stevenson of Descendents fame, End Game is about “the end of humankind as we know it” and deals with some of the grim realities that the US has faced over the past few years, including Hurricane Katrina and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Joining Rise Against on their Aussie tour this July will be hardcore heroes Sick Of It All and Perth good things Break Even.

Rise Against tour dates:
Saturday 16th July – Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney
Monday 18th July – Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane
Thursday 21st July – Festival Hall, Melbourne
Friday 22nd July – AEC Theatre, Adelaide
Saturday 23rd July – Challenge Stadium, Perth

Shows are All Ages and go on sale March 11th.

That is awesome fucking news.First concert as an 18 y/o...during the holidays.And Definately agree MAB, how did they go from the Hordern, to the Enmore, to the Ent Cent? I mean, it's the same venue Maiden just sold out?

Yeah agreed, there's always a downside to a strong dollar. No longer is Australia a cheap place to tour.

You've got it round the wrong way.

Unless you're thinking that bands lose money from touring, the higher the Aussie dollar, the more US dollars they end up with when they get home.

Rise Against are always fun, but I do agree with MAB, Sydney Entertainment Center feels like over kill.... . it will be interesting to see how well it sells

Definitely agree.

As far as Brisbane goes, I was just expecting a show at The Tivoli.

I've never heard of Sick of it All, though, so I'm probably completely wrong.

I agree, they didn't even sell out Enmore last time they were here, and played the side stage at bdo, and have toured twice since their last album was released. Can't see how they will fill Sydney/Brisbane Entertainment Centres or Challenge Stadium. Also the venue choices seems strange, like, they are playing a bigger capacity venue in Perth than in Melbourne? A 13,500 capacity arena in Brisbane but a 2000 person theatre in Adelaide? Seems weird.

:) I've found Festival Hall to be shit. The layout is poor, and the sound bounces and echoes way too much. I had front barrier for Phoenix, and it was great. However, I saw The Strokes there and sat towards the back of the 18+ section, and it was slightly muffled. Also, I saw Rise Against at Festival Hall in 2009, and was seated in the U18 section in the corner. I couldn't see much unless I stood up, but the sound was pretty good. However, being in the middle caused poor sound, and

How high is the stage? Would I be able to see anything If I stood at the back of the GA area? Or is it better to be in the 18+ area?
Thinking of buying a GA ticket, but I won't if the only place you can see the band is at the barrier.

About a metre and a half? The problem is the 18+ seats have these stupid wire fences to stop people jumping over (though it didn't stop them.) I suggest buying a floor ticket. At least you can choose where you watch that way :)

i saw them (with a freebie) at the enmore and it was terribl both music-wise and sound-wise... they are everything i hate about "nu-punk"... they were even worse than that slop Social Distortion dished out yesterday... the bronx will just slay them as their supports at the sidewave by the way

they are dreaming if they think they can even half fill the ent cent, even in intimate mode

and their new album name Endgame is a total ripoff of Megadeth's latest album, funnily enough titled "Endgame" (even as one word)... have a look around wankers that you are RA, it only came out late 2009

They've slowly gotten more and more mainstream over time, but even so...
I think Paramore only just sold it out last Sept and I mean fuck, they had the power of twilight behind them *Shudders*

And too all the haters, the Enmore show sounded great from where I was standing in the middle? It was all ages, the setlist was good and the band put on a pretty crazy show...honestly don't see what the complaints are about.

Shieldsy, it was definitely the best time I've seen them. But that said, the enmore makes bands sound a lot better than the sometimes deserve. Rise Against are a loose loose band. Put them in a barn like the entcent/hordern and they struggle.

Maybe they'll do what The Living End did last year at the SEC and close off the entire upper seating section, so that there's only lower seating and standing. It would probably reduce the capacity to about 8000.

i saw them at the enmore in jan 2010 and the second standing area was half emply almost. so if they can't sell out the 2500 capacity enmore theatre how do they expect to get close to filling the entertainment centre? nevertheless i will be there cos i had a really great time last time.

Pretty awesome bill, don't care for the hatin', am still a massive Rise Against fan (although I have never listened to the last album). Sick of it All and Break Even are fucking awesome supports.

However, the BEC as venue... Soooo shit. The Tiv would've been much better, but apparently their touring company has some agreement with the BEC that they must play it when they tour now or something according to my mate who works there...

Love seeing Rise Against and will definitely be going. Bad venue chosen by whoever put them there but still going to have an awesome time.

Just a side note talking about Appeal to Reason, I always found it odd how they've never played Whereabouts unknown (correct me if I'm wrong). It sounds like it would be fantastic live. They play stuff from a lot of their albums so that's still good but I wonder what will be taken out for this tour though

When the new album drops RA will officially be the new nickelback, but a little faster to show they are still 'loyal' to their punk roots... shit new tracks, shit venue, shit band. if i could see them play revolutions in it's entirety i'd be a happy man
