Arcade Fire tour petition
Tue 22nd Feb, 2011 in Local News
EMI Australia has set up a petition (well, a Facebook page) encouraging fans to put their names behind to a push to bring Arcade Fire back to Australia.
The ‘petition’, which has a slight whiff of PR stunt, declares that “It’s time Arcade Fire left the Northern Hemisphere and Australia got to experience the magnificent album The Suburbs live on stage!”. However the demands don’t specify a date for the tour – just pleading that the band tours at “Any time in 2011”.
Basking in the glow of their recent Grammy and Brit Award wins, Arcade Fire announced a lengthy run of dates last week, which narrows the possibility of an Australian tour to May or late July/early August.
The band has several weeks off in May, between sets at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee, but the month long break from 30th July – 31st August, which could coincide with Splendour in the Grass seems to offer a more likely window for an Australian visit.
The dates for Splendour are expected to be announced very soon… but will they be quickly followed by the confirmation of an Arcade Fire tour?
