Slayer guitarist to missSoundwave
Wed 16th Feb, 2011 in Local News
A spider bite has reportedly left Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman with necrotizing fasciitis – a rare disease which destroys skin, fat and tissue – forcing him to skip the Soundwave tour to undergo surgery on his right arm.
Slayer’s other guitarist Kerry King has issued a statement to confirm that the band will tour without Hanneman: “After everything that’s happened we all agreed that we just can’t let our fans down again. Jeff is totally on board with the decision, so we will tour as planned. We can’t pinpoint what day he’ll be back, but it will be as soon as he possibly can. We can’t wait for him to get better and get his ass back on the road.”
Update: Gary Holt from the Californian heavy metal band Exodus will be Slayer’s guest guitarist.
