John Steel Singers andJonathan Boulet team up forthe ‘Here’s Johnny’ tour

The John Steel Singers and Jonathan Boulet will hit the road on a joint double headliner tour in March.

With the single Overpass just missing the top 50 in triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown, The John Steel Singers debut album Tangalooma has won the band fleet of new fans. While Parades drummer/bedroom boffin Jonathon Boulet has spent recent months touring, producing Little Scout and Megastick Fanfare, remixing The Holidays and Wolf & Cub and working on his second record, which is due for release in mid 2011.

If you grab a ticket to the ‘Here’s Johnny’ tour, you also receive two exclusive tracks -Jonathan Boulet remixing the John Steel Singers forthcoming single You’ve Got Nothing To Be Proud Of and a cover of Boulet’s current single You’re A Animal recorded by the John Steel Singers.

According to the tour announcement “both bands will have more surprises for punters at the shows themselves” – we’re hoping for an all Australian ‘John’ melody featuring Farnham, Paul Young, Williamson and Olivia Newton.

was thinking of the Brisbane show, but thats the gf's birthday - might go to Caloundra instead.

Also, if you prepurchase tickets, they'll send you two songs - Boulet remixing JSS's Masochist, and JSS covering Boulet's You're A Animal (which I reckon would be fantastic).

A couple of hours to Sydney is nothing when you'd have to spend half the day travelling there like if you were in Coffs.

It's OK in most respects, just gigs (literally almost nothing) and general event type things. We get an NRL pre-season game every year (usually involving the Rabbitohs) but that's about it. If you want to buy CDs, forget it. There is virtually nothing, I just buy everything online although my main source of CDs is through doing reviews for FL.

The lifestyle otherwise is really good, very laid back and there are beaches and nature walks everywhere which are quite enjoyable. The shopping is reasonable apart from music-related items. There are a lot of sports fields and venues to play soccer/cricket/rugby league etc, and driving around town is rarely a stress due to the lack of traffic in comparison to bigger cities.

That's exactly right, if the gig finishes at 11pm (a conservative estimate), it's usually a 6 or 7 hour drive home which is a mission I'm not usually prepared for. This therefore means that accommodation costs come into play, which are usually upwards of $150 for a place where you can actually get a decent night's sleep. Add the petrol costs (usually 2 tanks worth) and food/drink costs (which would be significantly less if it was in your hometown where you could have dinner/breakfast in your own home) you have yourself a fairly expensive exercise.

All in all, your best option SQ is write music about it all, eventually move to Portland, OR in the US and get signed to Subpop where you'll release a record that'll get a 8.6 on Pitchfork.

Haven't been there for years! I drive past there once every two or three days though. The toboggan ride there is fun, and they used to have a ski slope which was pretty good, but it closed down a few years back.

just moved to canberra from 10 years in sydney. gig withdrawls - got the shakes n shit. definately took the 2 shows a week for granted. did make the laneway, les savy fav, 2 door cinema and foals sideshows all the more special with a few hours @ gay vibrations (miike snow/faithless only). but yea canborra
