Good Vibrations offerhalf-price and free tickets

After kick-starting its (almost) national festival tour this past weekend with some big events in Sydney and Melbourne the Good Vibrations festival will take in its final stops this weekend with parties in Perth and the Gold Coast.

In an effort to spread the love and pack the remaining capacity at each festival, the Jam Music crew behind Good Vibes are offering some frighteningly good deals on tickets.

As announced in a press release from Jam this morning, hold-out festival fans can now grab a ticket to either the Perth or Gold Coast event for half of the price that they’ve been selling at until now. That’s down to $72 with a booking fee.

For those punters already with a ticket there is some good news too as existing ticket holders can bring a friend for free to either date. All you need to do is just show up together with one pre-bought ticket and you’re good as gold.

The new ticket offers follow on from last Friday’s unexpected partnership with online deals site Spreets which offered half price tickets for its members. Over 2000 extra tickets were bought through the site, leading to some grumbling from full-paying fans.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph last week Jam Music chief Justin Hemmes fought off claims that ticket sales had been sluggish in 2011, saying that he was not concerned by profit margins but rather great parties.

“[Festivals] are not a profitable business – you do it for the passion,” Hemmes is quoted as saying. “I know it might sound wanky but I just want to throw the ultimate party for people…it’s the buzz. Last year was our most successful year ever and we’ve had growth every year.”

A classic case of charging too much for tickets to a shit festival with an average lineup. Although if tickets are $70 i might just go along and get googed for the lulz

"In an effort to... pack the remaining capacity at each festival"Oh totes, I mean the best thing for a festival is to pack it so jam full of people who don't like the music enough to buy a ticket that everyone is squashed like disinterested sardines.

I think that is what I paid to see Phoenix on their last tour. Might go along to this.

This is a bargain, I would have payed this for an Erykah Badu sideshow so the rest of the day is just a bonus.

unbelievable. i'm pretty sure i heard somewhere that big day out might be taking a break sometime over the next few years. so a sold-out-in-minutes festival is gonna go bye-bye but you can take a friend for free to this??? very disappointing if that's the case. :(

can you people stop making stupid comments. the lineup is pretty big. nobody is saying you have to enjoy soul or dubstep or hip hop but for those with a diverse musical taste this is a quality festival.

It's a cynical plot to increase takings through drink and merch sales. Nothing more.
