FBi to open live pop-up venue

FBi has taken the next step in its support of Sydney’s local music scene, with the announcement that the community radio station will open it’s first pop-up live music venue on the second floor of the Kings Cross Hotel.
Set across from the neon haze of the Coca Cola sign, The Kings Cross Hotel has been completely refurbished in an attempt to return to it’s earlier rep as a late night music venue and will open as the FBi Social, with room for 200 punters.
FBi’s president, Cassandra Wilkinson, says: “FBi’s mission is to get Sydney music the big audience it deserves. For seven years we’ve been breaking new acts on air and now we’re going to get them on stage. FBi Social – just like the station – is for everyone who loves Sydney music.”
In support of the venture a one-off benefit gig has been organised at Surry Hill’s Church on Chalmers on Tuesday 8th March with a lineup that boasts Swedish pop duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums, an acoustic set from California’s Sonny & the Sunsets and New Zealand’s Tiny Ruins.
