Dead Kennedys tour
Wed 9th Feb, 2011 in Local News
As far as punk luminaries go Dead Kennedys sit at the top of the totem pole. With the release of their debut album Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables in 1980, DKs introduced hard-core to the world and went on to influence a whole generation of new bands.
In the late 90s, following a legal disagreement over royalty payments, out-spoken vocalist Jello Biafra left the band and has since spent his time releasing spoken word albums, collaborating on musical projects, undertaking one infamous run to become the Green Party’s Presidential candidate and, most recently, forming new band Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine.
Dead Kennedys continued on sans Jello for the next decade and, with their new line-up of East Bay Ray, D. H. Peligro, Klaus Flouride and Ron “Skip” Greer on vocals, have just announced a tour of Australia this April. Will it be like seeing The Sex Pistols without Johnny Rotten? Most likely. But for those of you who just want any chance to wear your Too Drunk to Fuck t-shirt and body slam to California Über Alles, here it is.
Dead Kennedys tour dates:
Wednesday 6th April – Billboard, Melbourne
Thursday 7th April – Hi-Fi, Brisbane
Saturday 9th April – Manning Bar, Sydney
Tickets on sale Friday 11th February.
