Good Vibrations timetables;Aloe Blacc added to the bill

Turning up the heat another few degrees for this scorching summer party season is Good Vibrations, the annual festival that’s set to kick off next weekend in Sydney and Melbourne before winding around to Perth and the Gold Coast.

The official set times have been released to help you plot out your day and make the tough calls like if you’re on Team Nas or Team Kelis as the divorcees go head to head on opposing stages. Oooooooooooh!

You’ll also notice the inclusion of a fresh face on the lineup, with Stones Throw soul-stirrer Aloe Blacc drafted in to replace the defecting Janelle Monae.

I saw Aloe Blacc, tbh I had no Idea who he was other than from what was said on this forum and he was incredible perfect start to the day, (not counting Tim & Jean as a start to the day, the part of their set I was forced to endure was fucking rubbish).
I thought it was an alright day though, getting in was much easier than last year, took about 5 minutes to get in, last year it took nearly an hour.
When I got in at 1.30 there were about 50 people there. Walked right up to my friends at the front of the main stage with ease.
The crowd was very different to the normal festival crowd, a lot of older people, I think the majority would have been in their 30s, with a solid few in their 50s. Especially around Aloe Blacc. Lots of hippies too.
After Aloe saw Kill the Noise? I think, he was ok, fun at the time but not incredibly memorable obviously. Fake Blood was dissapointing. He was still pretty good but he was the highlight of Field Day last year and yesterday he was just good.
Left to see Friendly Fires who were fucking garbage. White Diamonds was a highlight, otherwise, crap.
Trekked back to the Laundry stage for Rusko, and while I'm rarely a dubstep fan, he was fucking sick. The most energy I've ever seen from a DJ, and the music he was playing really just makes me reconsider my dubstep hate.
Between 6-6.45 there seemed to be absolutely nothing on. Checked out Bag Raiders, they were shit. So sick of Australian indie-dance-pop after yesterday, IT ALL SOUNDS THE SAME. Went to check out Erykah Badu and it was some shit hip hop Dj playing instead. Went to main stage to see the Ting Tings (the pool of talent was that bad) and they weren't on either. So went back to Laundry for in between DJ, who made me feel sleepy.
Sasha started off ok/good. Not amazing.
Kelis. The only way to describe is: AAAAAH SO GOOOOD. Highlight of the day.
Went back to end of Sasha and it sounded awesome, closed on the Chem's Escape Velocity.
Then headed to Faithless who I thought were pretty disappointing. The sound on the main stage was terrible, and the whole billion piece band seemed out of time with eachother and really just sloppy, like there was too much going on and it wasn't well coordinated. The big basslines and epic trance parts of their songs rarely came together. Also a man sung Dido's parts. Left during Mass Destruction to check out Luda, WHO WASN'T EVEN FUCKING ON!
So headed back for half of Tweak Your Nipple and Insomnia. After which came a slew of chilled out sleepy numbers, that were lost on a festival crowd. Maxi Jazz seemed to need a rest every second song as well, I guess he's getting pretty old. It showed. Their show felt like watching someone's parents trying to seem cool to all the kids. By the time We Come 1 came around for the encore I was over it and saw Luda in time for Move Bitch (Get Out The Way) (AWESOME!!). Within 30 seconds of "they kept us offstage for 20 mins so we gon' keep goin" the sound was cut, closely followed by the power, which made the roots tent feel like a riot was about to start. Roid rage for all. Lovely sour note to finish the note on, but of course couldn't expect less from Jam, overall though it was a pretty alright day, but I still won't be spending $150 on a ticket next year, if the lineup is awesome I'll buy my ticket off ebay.
