Kings of Leon postpone tour
Sun 30th Jan, 2011 in Local News
A tweet by Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill suggests that their scheduled Australian tour (as well as dates in Johannesburg and Cape Town) will be postponed.
While there is no official word on either the bands’ web site or on their Facebook page, the tweet was made via Nathans’ verified Twitter account and announces: “Sorry to all the fans in Australia and South Africa. My bum wing needs more time to heal but we’ll be back later this year. Sorry again.”
Nathan is recovering from a shoulder injury sustained whilst on vacation late last year. The drummer tore his right labrum while trying to reel in a catamaran sail.
A further tweet from bass player Jared Followill – “Well, I now have March off. Any ideas for fun? I could always fly down to Australia and party anyway. I need some sun.” – seems to verify the bad news for Kings of Leon fans.
Update: The tour promoters, Frontier Touring, have issued a statement to confirm that “the Kings Of Leon tour has been postponed from March 2011 to November 2011 to allow drummer Nathan Followill to recover from surgery for a torn right labrum and bicep”. Doctors have advised that at least three months will be required for Nathan to recover post surgery to ensure the injury doesn’t reoccur.
Ticket-holders should hold onto their tickets until further details are released. A new itinerary is currently being worked up for November and more news will be announced later this week.
