Mark Ronson sideshowsannounced

Always on-point British producer Mark Ronson hit the right spot in 2010 with his sophisticated party album Record Collection that featured a host of collaborating guests like Q-Tip, Ghostface Killah and Andrew Wyatt from Miike Snow.

Having transformed that album into an all new live show, Ronson’s appearance on this summer’s Future Music Festival tour will likely be a favourite for festival-going fans.

Now it looks as though we’ll get the chance to see the big-quiffed UK star outside of the festival, with Future Entertainment announcing a string of sideshows for Mark Ronson and his band The Business Intl, featuring Ronson, Spank Rock, MNDR, Rose Elinor Dougall, Alex Greenwald, Stuart Zender and more.

The sideshow dates will go down in both Sydney and Melbourne around the festival and find the UK producer supported by Kiwi upstart Zowie:

Wednesday 9th March – The Palace, Melbourne
Friday 11th March – The Enmore, Sydney

Tickets on sale Monday January 24th at 9am.

Who actually sings the songs in the live show? It's not like Boy George, Ghostface, Winehouse, Q-Tip and the rest are on the tour bus.

I watched The Business Intl. perform on The Interface podcast, and the live band has MNDR, Alex Greenwald, Rose Pipette and MC Spank Rock. Rose does most of the female vocals, Alex and Mark most of the male and Spank Rock does the raps. It actually sounds really good - massively excited for this show.

When he came out for Global Gathering, he had Daniel Merriweather and the guy from Phantom Planet to sing their songs plus a couple of others and then some other singers to sing the parts of more famous singers who weren't in attendance.

Presumably he'll do the same this time around.

Can anyone tell me anything about them? Should I see them or should I be somewhere else drinking?

What's your pub of preference in Newtown? I love the Townie, but the one directly next to the Enmore is pretty cool, too.

I think my mates want to go to Kuletos for happy hour cocktails.

My favourite pub in Newtown is The Coutrhouse by a country mile. The Townie and The Duke for proximity to The Enmore would be my next two picks.

It's excellent. It has a great beer garden and an excellent jukebox.

It's on Australia St just near the police station (you turn off King St at the intersection of Enmore and King St on the opposite side of the road to the Townie.

It's about 50m or so from King St.

The Couthouse is great but the Duke is always my choice for pre-gig drink, it means more time for eating and drinking, less time walking.

never been to the courthouse....?
it's probably the best pub i have ever been to.
easily the best jukebox in the inner west.
good food, good mix of people and best warmup for enmore/manning/factory.
i used to live around the corner too. sadly pj o'reilly's is my new local in canberra.... sniff sniff

This show was great fun last night.

The crowd absolutely loved it. I've never seen a reaction as big as this crowd gave for Ronson and his band. Superb atmosphere.

The big singles were all excellent. The lesser known songs were all fairly flat though. There was a big gap between the good songs and the bad songs in terms of quality. Some of it really felt like filler. The small period where Ronson DJed in the middle of the set was incredible though. I would have happily listened to him DJing for hours. He should have filled all the gaps with this.

The tracks from Version certainly missed the horns. Songs like Just and Stop Me didn't hit the heights of the previous tour without the horns section.

I'm being pretty critical as this was a really fun gig and the crowd danced throughout and Ronson was the consummate performer as always. On a side note, it looked like he'd borrowed one of his sister's hairstyles. He should have let her keep it.

As I said earlier, the crowd absolutely loved it. I look forward to many fanboy/girl comments and reviews saying this was the greatest show in the history of great shows.
