Australian Open gigs

The Australian Open will not only be showcasing the best tennis talents, but also a strong mix of Aussie musicians. From veterans including Mark Seymour and Daryl Braithwaite to the youthful Operator Please, the gigs cater to a broad cross-section of tennis devotees. Clare Bowditch will play on the opening night, with inexplicably popular synth-rockers Amy Meredith set to close the tournament fourteen days later.

Artists including Lisa Mitchell and Katie Noonan will be performing melodic folk, while upbeat acts Miami Horror, Bluejuice and Tim Rogers and band are sure to be a bit more assertive in their efforts to compete with the likes of Nadal, Federer and the Williams sisters for the crowds’ attention.

The tennis Grand Slam tournament is held at Melbourne Park from 17th to 30th January and has lined up artists to grace the Heineken Live Stage from 2:30 to 7:00 pm each day.
